    RCD trips for Zs

The main switch is a 100A / 30mA RCD and it trips when I do the soft test on the lighting circuit only.(The lighting circuit 6A MCB does not trip) All OK on the other circuits.

    RCD trips for Zs

The flat is on the ground floor and therefore the main MCB on the CU is an RCD. When doing the Zs for all the circuits I use the RCD setting on the EFLI setting on my Alphatek. This works fine for the ring and the cooker final circuits ie no RCD tripping. However it does trip on the lighting...

    Determind R1+R2

Sorry to butt in. If it prooves difficult to measure Ze, ( for difficult I mean potentially dangerous for flat above, and sorry to keep going on about the flat above) is it sufficient to use the "by enquiry" value. This is for my assesment and I want to get everything just right.

    Lighting circuit

I am wiring up the lighting circuit and I will be running 4 by 6 GU10s from a 4 gang dimmer setup. I will be running the lights from the switches and will therefore need to connect all the Nuetrals together. What is the best way to connect them together within the back box.

Does anyone know if the regs require that you use only fire rated GU10s in houses in ceilings. (New build)

    Who's responsibilty..

When measuring Ze would I have to disconnect the earth to upstairs as well? I figure I would have to in order to get an accurate reading.

    Who's responsibilty..

Here is a photo of the incoming earth that is connected to both my flat and the flat above. Does it look suitable?

    Sockets in kitchens

That is what I thought. I don't want them on the RCD side. Also someone told me that if you cut off the moulded plug on some appliances you effect the warranty. I may have to go for the round pin sockets.

    Sockets in kitchens

If these sockets are for the white fixed goods only and are positioned behind the goods do they still have to be RCD protected? And if so can one wire them directly with flexible cable through a flex outlet to avoid the RCD.

    Thanks Ricicle

After the late night questions you anwered so succinctly on Monday I passed my NAPIT Inspection and Testing trade test practical on Tuesday. It was tough though.

Ricicle sorry if this is a stupid question, but what part of the sub-main is the (R1+R2) element of the Zs formula when you do the measurement with the earht connected. Hope that makes sense.
