    consumer unit choice

got a modern wylex board split load with 100mA RCD on one side and 30mA on the other 3 spare ways on the 100mA side. i need 4 circuits ( 32A hob.16A oven. 16A oven. 32A sockets) so am thinking the best way to achieve it 1. install sockets and hob using rcbo's. leaves one way which i...

    filling in certs etc

if u have a circuit which is for example a ring in 2.5 and then there is a spur off it in 4mm , do u explain that in the cert when it asks for size of conductors etc?

    ring and radial

the CU already has 2 rings in the mcb. obviously a lot of cowboys out there who do dodgy work. at least i get the advice first!!

    ring and radial

if you put a fused spur on the ring then you can run multiple spurs off it. Can you run multiple spurs off a ring without a FCU if you do it in say 4mm t&e? in other words can you have a circuit which is part ring part radial? also is it allowed to have 2 ring mains in 1 mcb?

    cooker and hob installation

using diversity it should be fine to put both on 6mm t&e with a 32A mcb unless the manufacturers hand book says different

    17th edition start?

yea i know but i fit kitchens and the company have their own rules which are more extreme than the regs and i have to comply with them. Its they who said that i cant use the design card because i am designing the electrical work while i am on the job

    sub board

bury what deep enough? Yea 30mA protecting cooker and sockets
  15. S

    sub board

yea it is RCD protected at the main board. The circuits on the sub need to be as they are sockets and cooker radial. Then wont need to use SWA. Can bury cables in the wall.

    sub board

but what protects the cable from the main board to sub?

    sub board

spark i didnt understand your grammar too well.

    sub board

You add a new 2 way CU and its a distance away from the main CU. Utilising a spare way on the main board with a 40A mcb. If the main board is 30mA RCD protected then am i right in saying that the sub wont need an RCD but just a main switch?

    17th edition start?

just been informed by my H&S that because its domestic work then the design factor is out the window and i have to comply with 17th edition even though the work was started on 27th june

    oven and hob query

Thanks spark Yea pretty much what i thought. The run from the CU is barely 6 ft and in trunkin or similar so i would imagine 2.5mm will suffice. And 20A DP switches would be better i agree for the ovens. I will use a 45 A DP cooker switch for the hob
