    Upstairs solid (fibre) internal wall

After some careful thought, I've decided to line the chipboard internal wall with water resistant plasterboard and then tank it. From what I've read aquaboard lets through moisture although it's not effected by it. I'm using aquaboard still on the outside cavity wall which is adjacent...

    Upstairs solid (fibre) internal wall

Hi, I'm after a little advice. I am in the process of replacing my bathroom suite. I've just removed bath, sink, toilet and the remaining tiles. On the removal of the last tiles I've found a large damp area on one of the internal walls, which I had assumed was a plasterboard stud wall...

Internal French door and demi panel instalation

Hi, wonder if anyone can give me some advice. I'm in the process of fitting some internal french doors with a demi panel at either end. These are pine doors/demi panels from wickes. I started with an opening between sitting room and dining room where I am now creating the room divider...

Wise words there Kev. :) To be honest I agree with you and your right not all tradesman are bad. As soon as I get the corgi certifiacte thats needed and a few spares from this company, I'll leave it and finish the kitchen myself. I have to remove the dishwasher again as the sink is...

    kitchen installation

The dishwasher does fit into an ordinary cupboard space with no problems. The difficulty in this situation was that the waste pipe from the sink passed directly behind the dishwasher to an internal soil pipe. Some houses have outside soil pipes so you would normally take the waste pipe...

    Corgi cert required.

I have recently had a gas hob installed in my kitchen. The fitter was supplied by the company and was supposed to be corgi registered. I have since asked for a corgi cert and have been furnished with a gas safety certificate for the hob. Although this bears no reference to the altered pipe...

    kitchen installation

Unfortunately I'm working in Italy at the moment.... "enjoying the experience of contracting abroad" to pay for a great new kitchen. I've talked over a couple of options with people about dealing with this company who wont return calls or emails and essentially it runs to hiring a solicitor or...

    kitchen installation

Ok, the company is called KBBC kitchens. They now appear on the internet with quite a few simillar horror stories. Can you beleive the saga goes on..... Right, I've been asking for a corgi certificate for the gas work carried carried out installing the hob. They have sent a plumber in who has...

    kitchen installation

they patched it, re-blocked in the missing bits but didn't replace the blocks, it's more like re-faced. I agree with them that it wasn't dangerous just incredably gash. I now cannot see through it to the external brickwork and it's properly insulated. All in all it's not great, merely adequate.

:) Well the base units have all come out, the electrics have all been redone to part p spec, although they've left one socket very close to the hob which I'm not overly happy about. The worktops have all been replaced with new parts and appliences refitted. The general finish of the...

    kitchen installation

I've had a surveyor out from the company and he's given me a signed copy of defects that will be rectified. So they will fix all the problems, I'll have to wait and see how!? They should be starting (removing existing units, making good and refitting) this monday, I did try and turn the oven...

I'm impressed ChrisR :-) your right it certainly is the main gas pipe. Just had an "electrician" turn up by himself to fix it.......... just sent him away again, can't see how it can be fixed without pulling the kitchen out, not a one man job!!

I've had the companies surveyor round here this morning, he's taken more photographs and written a full report, he also noticed that the consumer box needs upgrading. He has also advised that the appliences are not used. I have to wait until at least monday for the company to provide me with...

    Kitchen ring main damged

That's something I'd not heard of before. I must also apoligise for the picture, it needs to be rotated by 90 degrees, it's cables are running up and down and connect to a socket which was under the counter to plug a fridge into originally. I have another socket like this behind the washing...

    Kitchen ring main damged

The company have sent a surveyor out this morning, who like yourselves has recommended the consumer unit is upgraded, the original surveyor and fitters had not mentioned this. I beleive there was no electrician in the original team, however the company were contracted to install appliances in...

    Kitchen ring main damged

So when I see the company rep this morning I should request that the damged cable be replaced, is this going to be enough? I was wondering if there was the possibility of melted cables anywhere else due to what must have been a reasonably long/big short to blow all fuses including house...

I'm a little confused by what the manual says, but I think it means that I need a 5mm airgap around it. "These dimensions include the necessary clearances around the boiler for case removal, spanner access and air movement. Additional clearances may be required for the passage of pipes around...
