    Which Trade emulsion?

Whats better to use on newly skimmed walls? Dulux trade emulsion or Wickes Trade emulsion? I'm not sure on which to get because I couldn't find the Dulux in my local B&Q. I'm going to use this as a base first before I apply a coloured kitchen and bathroom paint.

How long before painting newly skimmed walls?

Is there any difference Dulux trade emulsion and the normal matt emulsion? My local B&Q doesn't stock the trade stuff so I was just curious why it comes so highly recommended? :?

Plumbing question for Side by Side fridge-freezers

Thanks for the swift response Jason - that has cleared things up now. This washing machine valve - will it stop any leakage of water whilst changing over filters? I'd hate to think I'd be mopping up water inside a wooden cabinet each time the filter needed changing. Can you get these in B&Q? If...

Plumbing question for Side by Side fridge-freezers

Hi, the fridge came with a length of 1/4" plastic piping and a metal tap connector. The connector goes to wherever the tap will be installed. The pipe then fits this, and connects to the back of the fridge via the water filter.

Plumbing question for Side by Side fridge-freezers

Does anyone have a Samsung american type fridge-freezer, or another brand with an externally mounted water filter? Mine came with a large plastic water filter which needs to be fitted in between the fridge and the water supply, and requires replacing at set intervals. Where have people had...

How long before painting newly skimmed walls?

Thanks for that, my walls have almost turned light pink after 3 days but I'll wait a few more days in that case. Just wondered if I had time to apply the base coat before the new kitchen arrives.

How long before painting newly skimmed walls?

How long should I wait until painting my kitchen walls which have just been skimmed with a single layer of finishing plaster? Also can I use any paint to go over the sealing paint, or does it have to be special Kitchen paint?

Re-fitting one side of a carpet

Hi, just wanted to ask how difficult it was to refit a newly laid carpet if I wanted to run a length of speaker cable under it? I know of these carpet knee hitting tools but not sure if I can do this myself of I should get a pro in?

Relocating electric cooker switch - help please!

Hi hope no one mind me asking more wiring questions but I still need some helpe regarding the wiring of a new double electric oven. My situation is as follows: My new kitchen is getting fitted next week and I've been doing alot of chasing for new appliances to ensure cables are all hidden...

Cooker control Unit fitting help please.

I think its either 4 or 6mm but I need to chase it to a more convenient location. In the picture above, there will be a large cupboard to the right of where you see the fridge. The oven will go where the fridge is now. What I'm thinking of doing is surface-installing a cooker control switch...

    Earth for Cooker Hood?

OK, checked the hood itself last night, no double insulated symbol on the information sticker, but the normal earth symbol. I rang Baumatic today who confirmed that the hood did indeed earthing contrary to what their manual said! They said they were "aware" of the error in the manual and were...

Cooker control Unit fitting help please.

Thanks guys, I'm not sure if I was clear in my original post though. That chasing makes sense, and I'm pretty sure the cable is not 2.5mm2 because it looks alot thicker than the 2.5mm2 I've installed elsewhere, so will probably play safe and use some 6mm2 for the extension. What I need to know...

Cooker control Unit fitting help please.

Here are some pictures (I didn't know how to create thumbnail links so they're full size I'm afraid!) This pic shows a single supply cable which looks like 6mm2 to me. This picture shows where the socket is located on the wall. The fridge is where the electric oven will be housed in...

Cooker control Unit fitting help please.

Are these 2 things the same thing and if not what do I need to connect a double electric oven to a dedicated cooker circuit? I have a large hole in the wall where an electric cooker used to be and it was tiled over until I removed the tiles in preparation for new cabinets. So far I can see some...
