    Relay Question

I have been informed by the manufacturer of my boiler that the "boiler demand" connection must be voltage free. As the connection from my wiring centre is 230v I will need a suitable relay. Any suggestions on where I might get such a beast??

    Draught from beneath old floorboards

It seems a shame to rip up and replace the flooring if its in good nick and has a nice aged look. You will inevitably loose a few if you pull the whole lot up no matter how careful you are. I liked the idea of lifting a few in the corner and insulating from underneath. Although not as good as...

    Plasterboard

 Looks like I will be sitting back and waiting for all my render to crack and fall off  Not wanting to waste my 2.99, I think I will amend the offending page!

    Plasterboard

:? I was following the techniques in a groovy little book called Plastering and Rendering (basic repairs and skills) by Kim Kennerson (bargain at 2.99) He suggests a 9 2 1 mix, which is what Ive used but I appreciate a weaker mix may be appropriate for different backgrounds. He even goes...

    Zap....Ouch!

I remember a small incident I had whilst sinking an electric cable in a wall for my girlfriend. I thought I was being very carful by switching off the CU before touching anything. Unbeknown to me there was a small second consumer unit (there were in a very small dark cupboard not easily...

    Under floor heating

Lots of really good info your post. We are in the process of installing UFCH. We have installed three manifolds to cover the amount of floor space we have, some rooms needing more than one circuit due to the length of the runs. We have a pump on each manifold and its all plumbed back to a...

    !!!!Damp Proof Course!!!!

We are renovating a old house which backs onto a small road. The road level comes half way up the wall, all the way along one side of the property. We had the wall tanked, which involved the painting/spreading of a strange grey goo over the damp walls. This was supposed to dry to form a...

    Is anyone using X10?

Wheres your spirit of adventure? Some of it does look a bit OTT but I do like the idea of being able to programme the lights to operate when we are on holiday so we don't get robbed. Some of the audio/TV stuff looks interesting too, and what about surfing the web from what ever room you...

    Is anyone using X10?

I am doing a complete rewire and am looking at the X10 stuff. Are there any experiances of reliability etc and is it really worth all the effort?
