Easy way to stop hot water circulation in gravity system?

All fine and dandy Onetap but we still dont know the make and model of the boiler system and until we know its best not advise a possible layman on the use of valves or such like.

Whole house pumping and secondary circulation .

Thanks for the replys. Any system can be a bodge in the hands of an unskilled tradesman. I know your option Doitall is an accepted method and offers a good solution and you have no doubt experience with this. Without goint to the trouble of having an extra coil fitted in the...

Whole house pumping and secondary circulation .

Some pumps have internal by-passes so the back flow could pass through that also. :D

Whole house pumping and secondary circulation .

Partly yes but at the end of the day it would be just an ordinary cylinder with an extra coil in the top . A small coil. Just large enough to take out heat to keep the secondary loop warm. Thats the salamander pump or could be any pump. The C and H represents the Cold...

Try this. :D Any clearer Doitall.??

Whole house pumping and secondary circulation .

AAh. Think Ive got it. This was some cash I scanned. The "gif" bit now is the only part that is confusing me. Thanks Chris.

Whole house pumping and secondary circulation .

What does this mean ? I only see "save as" in the file toolbar . :( Its OK. Have figured this much out. I dont think I shall be posting any images. :(

Whole house pumping and secondary circulation .

Then its back to my theory which you dont understand Doitall . Wish I could post a diagram like ChrisR. :(

Whole house pumping and secondary circulation .

Why ? Because you think secondary circulated water will not return through the WHP. ?????.

Whole house pumping and secondary circulation .

AAh,but of course, it does not matter if both pumps run together as an outlet will be open. :D

Whole house pumping and secondary circulation .

Looking at ChrisR's first drawing again I think this would work but have the secondary return higher up the cylinder. The two pumps operating at the same time would be my only concern though this could be addressed with a simple relay setup.

Whole house pumping and secondary circulation .

Distributing hot water in a domestic premises using WHP method is easier when locating the pump beside the cylinder which should be strategically located anyway. The secondary circulation loop may go West providing HW to one section of the building while all the other HW...

Whole house pumping and secondary circulation .

This means siting the pump far from cylinder and as you state would mean oversizing the pipework . Also high heat loss on the pipe run.

Whole house pumping and secondary circulation .

An unvented cylinder is not an option in this case Doitall.

Does that re-edited post help ??.

Whole house pumping and secondary circulation .

The WHP gets its water as usual via a surrey or essex flange Doitall. The cylinder remains vented as usual . Basically what I am suggesting is circulating the secondary loop through the top coil The heat is then delivered indirectly to the loop instead of directly when...

Whole house pumping and secondary circulation .

OK guys, get a load of this, you can shoot me down if you wish. I specify a cylinder with a second coil fitted in the top section. The WHP (whole house pump) pumps the hot through this coil any time someone opens a tap. On the return leg of the secondary loop is fitted the...

Whole house pumping and secondary circulation .

Your second drawing Chris. Surely when the whole house delivery pump operates (as and when someone opens a tap or turns on a shower ) then the water will take the secondary return water route back to the cylinder. :( thats assuming the WHP (whole house pump) fires up via the...

Doea anyone know the best way to provide secondary circulation where say a salamander pump or similar is providing whole house HW.??
