Integrated W/M moves all over the shop!!??

Hi there, Coming to the end of fitting our kitchen, all appliances are integrated but I'm having probs with the washing machine. Firstly, I've had to put it on boards to gain height (which it says is fine to do in the manual). The thing is that it moves itself around the kitchen. The second...

Please help with brand new Washing Machine!!

PS: If the pump is rattling it would indicate the machine isn't taking on water. Why would this be, I've checked the supply and it's fine. There aren't any plugs to take out of the maching before plumbing in are there (it didn't say there was in the instructions!)???

Please help with brand new Washing Machine!!

Yep, the machine is pulled forwards, well away from the wall, what pipes underneath should I check?

Replacing ceiling light - but no earth in ceiling rose?

I've read it again and although it states that the incorrect cable is used for the light it doesn't say anything about the lack of an earth or any remedy. Sounds like 100 quid down the drain..........

Please help with brand new Washing Machine!!

Checked all the pipes, none are kinked, it's basically a straight run under the cupboards from the feeds to the W/M. All 4 of the transit bolts are out. This may just be coincidence but our old machine packed in just before the new kitchen came and was making a very similar noise, the only...

Please help with brand new Washing Machine!!

Hi, I am just coming to the end of fitting our new kitchen from MFI. We also got the MFI "Diplomat" range of built in appliances. I have just plumbed in the washing machine that started to work fine but then just stopped and started to make a loud humming/rattling noise. I have checked all...

    Plumbing in Belfast Sink???

Cheers Nige, had a go at it before I read this, it went as follows........... Yep, there is one black washer which is quite rubbery, I put this under the plug. I put the tougher plasticy washer under the sink and did my nut up as tight as I dared (I know you said I wouldn't break it but if it...

Replacing ceiling light - but no earth in ceiling rose?

Yep, got the report here, Domestic Electrical Installation Periodic Inspection report, serial number starts DPN1 if that means anything?? Although we live in a converted flat, I'm fairly sure the wiring is no more than 20 years old, I will have a look at another light to see what that has in...

    Plumbing in Belfast Sink???

Probably not the most complicated thing to do in the world but I thought I'd see if you have any tips before I go home and try it tonight!! We have a belfast sink, the overflow exits below the plug via a letterbox type hole in sink which obviously lines up with a similar hole in the waste shaft...

Replacing ceiling light - but no earth in ceiling rose?

Just found the same thing in our kitchen last night. Went to put up some halogen lights, took out the old one and found the wiring is flex with no earth. We've just had an inspection and was told it was flex but wasn't told there was no earth protection. We have a new consumer unit, is it...

Why does washing machine have to be double poled?

PS: Started to read that thread but it flew over me!! One point though, why can you run a lawn mower off of an extn lead but not a dryer? (or can't you!!)

Why does washing machine have to be double poled?

What's the diffrerence between the fuse being in the plug or the fuse being in the switch?

Why does washing machine have to be double poled?

Cheers, will go for option A, already got the switch with neon light, will have it plugged in, in the cupboard tonight! Why make plugging in a washing machine so awkward!!!!!

Why does washing machine have to be double poled?

Deffo 13A fuse required, exactly my point about being able to remove it, no good if the lead is wired into the wall going up behind the worktop. As I say, at the moment I have a socket in a cupboard controlled by a switch above the worktops (just for easy control). Instead of this socket, could...

Why does washing machine have to be double poled?

Not sure, at work at the moment but it's certainly not an industrial one, it's a built in Diplomat one from MFI the same as the dishwasher!? What do you think of fusing the socket that I am curently controlling with a switch, would that be ok?

Why does washing machine have to be double poled?

Cheers everyone, I'm still a bit confused. Why can I plug my dishwasher in as normal (same make) but not my washing machine? Will it only be warrenty issues I might cause by putting a plug on it and forgetting about it? The socket I want to use in the cupboard is switched above the worktops...

Why does washing machine have to be double poled?

Nope, didn't come with a plug and no mention of a plug in the instructions, it says it MUST be wired into a double pole outlet (or whatever the technical term is), I just wanted to know why before I go putting a plug on it and plugging it in! Cheers!
