Not difficult to work out though - a quick whois lookup on the domain names of both sites gives them as running through the same C/O address, company & name truly the web is full of charlatans and scumbags.... But we knew that already

Advice RE Cabling / Setup for Wedding Marquee

The easiest, simplest and above all cheapest way would be to get a couple of 13a to 16A pigtails (with RCD's on them if necessary), plug 'em in from 2 different sockets on the domestic ring circuit, run them out the window and over to the marquee, and split the load across the 2 outlets. You...

Messed up chimney breast brickwork (with pics)

Ooof - brings back "happy" memories of my own fireplace traumas  It's amazing what can lurk behind an old fire - most of it enough to give you sleepless nights.. Can I suggest that you hot-foot it down to the local hire shop and get a couple of strongboy sapports and a couple of...

timber yard (newcastle) + decking question

for the timber yard, have you tried Quay timber in Byker by the Ouseburn (just off byker bank). Slap Quay timber into Yell.co.uk and you'll get the details.... They have a fairly good stock range so might be able to sort you out....

    IEC "Euro" line plug wiring

Left my multimeter on my desk at work by accident  The lead is feeding into 'a 150 watt halogen light (mounted on a stage lighting T bar being fed from a 6 gang IEC female socket board so it shouldn't matter... Just wanting to get it right and all... 8)

    IEC "Euro" line plug wiring

Slightly stuck with this. Trying to wire up a male IEC line plug, but the stupid thing doesn't make which of the 2 shorter pins is the live, and which is neutral (the middle longer pin is marked as earth). According to the blurb on various sites it's a c13 type plug, and lookes like this...

Testing an RCD on a portable distro caused main RCD to trip

That's what I'm worried about... The distro should really be tested at every location it's used at, but I'm not going to be mr popular if I keep tripping RCD's wherever I go  Methinks I'm going to have to get another RCD... Rats....

Testing an RCD on a portable distro caused main RCD to trip

No problem 2 are MK's, the third's a proteus without a functional earth I'm thinking I might.... Don't really want to trip the main CU RCD every time I test the thing... I'll get into trouble from the better half

Testing an RCD on a portable distro caused main RCD to trip

Yep - both are 30MA RCD's, so it looks like I've got nowt to worry about then - much appreciated.... Just out of curiosity - what would happen if I disconnected the functional earth and terminated it in a choc-block?? Would it render the RCD unsafe??

Testing an RCD on a portable distro caused main RCD to trip

Evening folks, I've built a couple of portable distro's (32A plugs to small CU's with RCD's and MCB's out to 13A sockets etc), and 3 of 4 are fine, the RCD tests ok and no bother. The 4th one is causing a bit more of a strange 'un.... It's a proteus 40A RCD with a functional earth cable...

What's this little cable for??? (with pics)

Ah-ha!!! I thought it might be an earth but didn't want to say it in case I was way off the mark and subsequently scoffed at  Not a trace of a tab to indicate earth or anything... Typical... Much appreciated though - off to wire it in now

What's this little cable for??? (with pics)

Afternoon folks. About to put an RCD into a little portable distro (32A socket to a CU with an RCD, then a 32A MCB, and then to 3 x 13A sockets on a ring). I was given an RCD (proteus) to put in it, and it appears to have a little cable coming out of it (can't be much more than .5mm) from...
