    Current scrap prices

Surely if the price is based on dollars you will receive more pounds not less, eg 8 mths ago $2=£1 now $1.30 =£1, so when you were paid $2 8 months ago you received £1 now if paid $2 you get £1.50 approx

I have a Dell laptop, 3 years old. When I browse on internet and click onto a site, sayDaily Telegraph, Daily Mail or suchlike, the web page opens as normal. It will stay on my screen for a few seconds then it redirects away to a Dell search page which tells me it cannot find the web page I...

    Reducing earth wires

Hi Veglen Thanks for the advice, the single wires as you suggest not only cut down the earth wiring but will go far more easily through the conduit! As regards the circuit design I cannot see how it can be different as I am only using one live wire and 3 switched live wires. The 3 core is...

    Reducing earth wires

Thanks for the quick reply, I do appreciate your time and effort. I am not an electrician but have done DIY electrics for many years. (I had it all signed off by a fully qualified sparkie 3 months ago when he replaced fuse board - even commenting how neat and correct my work was! ) I take ages...

    dodgy plumber?

Chaps dont fall out over my posting, as I have said you assistance in the past has been brilliant. Just a quick updater, checked fittings he had put in inserts. As regards what sort of plumber was he. Well he was recommended to my pal by a fellow U10's Football spectator! He has been in...

    dodgy plumber?

You guys have been absolutely great over the years helping me on numerous occasions overcome plumbing problems. I read this post with some scepticism yesterday but the poor woman's despair was brought home to me very early this morning. Yes her husband, a friend of mine from the pub, phoned...

    Ensuite - quality of products

I have just finished an ensuite, bought all the fittings (bath, taps, shower mixer, bog, basin etc) from Plumbworld. Price was extremely competitive, quality excellent (the other half would have no other!) and their delivery and service could not be faulted. I must admit I used B&Q for my...

    Surface shower mixer

Softus as always thanks for a prompt reply. What an idiot I am I have now realised that most surface mounted showers can readjust their inflow pipes elbows to take downward pipes. Obviously ate too much egg with the drink!!

    Surface shower mixer

I thought I had finished with asking for your fantastic advice having finally finished my house refurb. However my pal has growing up kids who are demanding a better shower than the very small dribble electric he has at the moment for them. He already has a fully operating pumped power...

    Painting hardboard

As I have almost completed "rebuilding" my house, mostly thanks to the different forums on this site, I thought I would beg one last query of this forum which I have not posted on before. I have a set of built in wardrobes, which on the inside are fine and well designed. Unfortunately the...

BLUE CANDLE WAX ON WHITE BRICK FIREPLACE

Trouble with candle wax is that it is soft and adheres to "rougher" surfaces. A trick with it on clothes is to put them in freezer, it then goes brittle and can be eased off, same on carpets, large lump of ice has done the trick sometimes. In your case white brick, you could try ice method...
