    curved walls skirting?

Glad it all ended up OK in the end. Could you send me a link to the dulux paint - or tell me where you got it from? Just tried searching but no luck.

    Insulation between floor void

My house has a porch with a bedroom directly above it. I guess the best way to descrive would be to say the porch is build into the house. All there is between the cold porch and the bedroom above is plasterboard, an empty void and floorboards on top. This room gets quite cold and I suspect...

    Filling large gap under skirting

Various reasons - check my other posts. In the end I got some ronseal deep gap filler which still needs sanding but seems to have done the trick. Was pretty horrible stuff to use though.

    Filling large gap under skirting

No mechanical fixings, it glued in place. Was so busy checking it was pressed and held against the wall, and it had some furnituiture in front of it so I couldn't see from the front, that I didn't realise I had a gap. Removing it isn't an option if that is your question.

    Filling large gap under skirting

As you may be aware from previous posts I'm putting new skirting on. All has gone well apart from one long piece where the skirting is a little warped and it bent up from the floor slightly. In the middle this gap is perhaps 15mm and approx 2 metres long. I've filled the large gap by gluing...

    silicone sealent around downlights

I still not done this, but have found that there is a heat resistant sealant used by fireplace fitters for flues etc, upto 1000 degs. I've seen it in black, but everywhere I look it seems to be red which isn't what I want. Have a look on screwfix for fire and heat sealants. And let me...

Radiator Heat output - worth replacing old for new

We have a central heating system that must be 20 or more years old. The boiler has been repalced and pipes flushed. Radiators get hot and boiler stops heating further but the rooms simply dont get hot enough. The heat from the rads simply doesn't seem to transfer to the room. I'm now thinking...

No more nails/pink grip - how strong is it really?

Good point re the prep work. The bricks are all dusty and covered in mortar. Whats the best way of getting them ready? Last time I cleaned as best I could, then used some PVA to seal it a bit? Was this a good idea or not? Seems to have worked anyway.

    curved walls skirting?

How did your reamining ones go then? I took the screws out of mine on Sunday night and so far it hasn't budged so think I have got away with it. However, I do hope that statement wasn't a case of famous last words!

    Laminate worktops - jointing

Glad to hear it went well in the end. Sounds like all three errors could have been a disaster so glad you manged to fix them up and are happy with the result in the end. The question is would you do it again - I'm not so sure myself! Certainly wouldn't want to do it on a more expensive...

    washing Machine sizes

I always look on the manufacturers website once I've found what I want to buy. You can usually even download the instruction booklet so you can see official dimensions and features.

    curved walls skirting?

Yeah, I guess that makes sense in terms of bending, but as you said it must make a mess. At least you have one done though - I'm sure the rest will be easier.

Sliding washing machine on vinyl floor - avoiding damage

Cheers All, There's a few ideas there for me anyway. I like the wobble board one. Has it got a proper name to search for on the web? I'll have a wander around b and q and see if anything looks like it might be suitable.

    curved walls skirting?

I've glued blocks of wood to the wall and it is all held in place with screws. Once dried - prob tomorrow night, I will remove again and glue the actual scrirting to the blocks of wood and screw back in place. Then I'll leave it alone until after the bank holiday and remove the screws...

What kind of bad surprises behind the wall paper ?

I'm no expert myself but we ended up re-skimming the walls in the end, as they weren't up to scratch for a good finish. One of the reasons was that where someone had removed wallpaper in the past they had scored the old wallpaper in a criss-cross fashion, but it had scored the wall...

Sliding washing machine on vinyl floor - avoiding damage

As I said the gap at the top is not very big at all - and at the side for that matter - walking it will be impossible. Any other ideas?

Sliding washing machine on vinyl floor - avoiding damage

I've a washing machine that fits under my kitchen worktop. There's only about 1-2 cm gap under the worktop so I cant put it on rollers and cant really lift it, so to remove I need to slide it across the floor. We are getting a new vinyl floor fitted in a week or so and am obviously keen to...

No more nails/pink grip - how strong is it really?

Thanks Chaps. That puts my mind at rest a little. It's be screwed in place for a few days to be extra sure, its just whether it held once they came out that worried me.

    curved walls skirting?

Go and help him! The more places you can push the better in my experience. If you push from the middle it will pick a single place to bend (and then snap) Once you see that happening you need to force it to bend in another place by applying pressure elsewhere. Needs at least 4 hands. Hope...
