    Sheet saw required

Seems a lot of hassle for the sake of a simple saw. I only have a small job to do.

    Drainpipe fall gradient

What's this in degrees? My 'O' level trig was so long ago, I've lost my log tables... Are you saying that because the plastic is smooth (or might not be, once my family have had a few acidic curries....) that I can get away with even 1 deg fall??

    Drainpipe fall gradient

What's the minimum fall that's acceptable for 100mm plastic waste pipe? Is it 2deg or 4deg? In my case, it's a 4m length which I'm hoping to hide the pipe (including the fall) within the depth of a 6" floor void. At least I'll be able to work out how much will be visible at the lower end...

    Sheet saw required

It's like Jasonb's 'Sh*tack' saw, but with a straight steel back. A bit like a short woodsaw, but with a thingy at each end of the steel backing to hold a hacksaw blade. They were all the rage in the days of corrugated iron, when they were the only tool you could sensibly use to cut the stuff. I...

    Sheet saw required

Does anyone know where I can buy a sheet saw? (For cutting through thin metal sheeting).

    Flow and return differential

Excellent answers, and fully understood. Thank you.

    Flow and return differential

Is the difference between flow and return water temperatures relevant to the efficiency of the system? If so, why? The system in question is a sealed system heated by a condensing boiler.

    Drill power for core drilling

I only buy Bosch tools, and Bosch blue where appropriate. I can't be bothered with any cheapo machines. I've been tempted in the past on a couple of occasions, and then regretted it ever since. So, it has to be Bosch for me. (My abused 20 year old Bosch hammer drill is the DIY green variety :)...

    Drill power for core drilling

I do not have an SDS drill (yet). My trusty old Bosch 750w hammer drill must be 20 years old, but the bearings are wearing out (and it really has been abused), so I thought I'd replace it with a GSB20-2RE, and maybe buy an SDS model later on. I don't want the thing to be too heavy for general...

    Drill power for core drilling

Point taken, Hitachimad, about gearing, but what I want to do is buy a normal drill suitable for 95% of my tasks, but is also suitable for the occasional core drilling. I don't want (= can't afford) to buy two different machines.

    Tiling to worktops, etc

When tiling to worktops or shower trays, etc., which is best/correct: a) Run the tiles direct on the worktop, leaving very little gap. Grout as per usual right down to the worktop, then run a thin (clear) silicone bead over the grout to seal any movement cracks, or: b) Leave a larger gap...

    Drill power for core drilling

What's the minimum drill power I can get away with for diamond core drilling up to, say, 50mm? Same question but for 127mm? (I will only consider buying Bosch, Dewalt, or Makita brands).

    Goggles?

200 sheets of MDF per week??? That's one hell of a large bedroom. I guess it's for Beckingham Palace. Never mind about all these production-plant statistics, I still want to know if anyone will admit to wearing goggles and mask whilst erecting bedroom furniture.

    Goggles?

Assembling flatpack stuff usually doesn't require sanding - and most of it is chipboard anyway. So, has anyone (and come on guys, own up if your out there).....has anyone ever warn a mask and goggles whilst assembling bedroom furniture

    Prescott the fat fkkr...

Excellent. Does that mean I can resume installing electrics in kitchens, and revert to using clear and unambiguously identified red and black T&E cabling? Which piece of important legislature do you think was the first he signed off after he had that bl*w j*b in his office? And do you think...

    Goggles?

Last week, I assembled some MFI flatpack bedroom furniture. In the instructions it said "For your own safety, eye protection should be worn when assembling this furniture". I have to ask: Has anyone ever worn goggles whilst assembling bedroom furniture??

    Wallpaper record

How can any wallpapering job be periced by the roll? And for that matter, what possible value or meaning can be given to any claim of so many rolls/day? I can hang 10 rolls a day no problem - providing it's no-match paper and all straight drops of 7' 6". But the last job I did took me 4 days...

    Wallpaper record

Today, I had to hang a length of wallpaper that was a 5m drop in one piece. Fortunately, there was no pattern match, as I dread to think how much it would have stretched by the time got to the bottom edge. What's the longest single drop any of you guys have done?

    Megaflow or Combi???????

    1) You must have some serious taps if the insides cost £70 :) Even replacement quarter-turn ceramic inserts would only cost you 10% of what your man is quoting. More details required before more accurate answer is possible. 2)Fair enough, you'll just have to be more careful  In our...

    Megaflow or Combi???????

    1) A common problem when you push high pressure water through what hitherto had only low pressure water. Answer: Change the washer(s) 2) Check the plug holes and P-traps for hair and gunge. Plug holes ought to be able to cope. 3) Probably correct, although I fitted a new pump on a...
