Any recommendations for switching on power to my washing machine and dishwasher which are full size models (not integrated), and will be housed in a custom made cabinet? Currently the cable is fed through a hole in the worktop and I plug this into a nearby socket and switch on when needed...

Hi can anyone give me advice on what type of kitchen tap to go for if I'm not sure on my water pressure? My cold water supply is fed from the mains and NOT from a tank in the oft, and the hot comes from a combi boiler next to the sink. I see there are many taps that specify pressure...

    Combi boiler timers

Sorry I meant to say I already have a mechanical timer connected to the boiler but want to replace this with a digital one. I'm just not sure if everything is compatible or only certain brands can work with Valiant boilers.

    Fixing carpet gripper to concrete?

Hi, I need to replace some of my carpet gripper and notice that the concrete floors are covered in some kind of brittle tiles which crack when I try to nail through them! What glue is ok for fixing it down instead - will no more nails do the trick or is there a product the professional fitters use?

How do you hide the wires on wall-mounted fire?

Hi, if you mean an electric fire I just fitted one meself inside a marble surround and back panel. I wired a fused spur from a ring mains socket, and then fed the supply cable for the fireplace through a channel in the wall, inside an oval conduit. It means there is a flush finish and no cables...

    Surround Sound cable routing?

    Brick Paint?

Hi does anyone have any suggestions what to do with a support pillar in my lounge which the previous owners had made out of those grey textured bricks you find in garden walls? My lounge theme is beige and I opted against plastering over it, so would it look tacky by painting with masonary...

    Urgent Lining paper question

Hi, I'm in the middle of papering some walls and used lining paper first. The trouble is that one of the walls wasn't plastered very well and the transition between existing plaster and new plaster is showing through as a raised section in the lining paper from the floor wall the way up to the...
