    Additional Sockets in Garage

Edit - I Should add that I know the extra socket question gets asked frequently and by searching it would appear this is an OK way to proceed. I mainly ask due to the volume of sockets being used (Not the the current draw will be significantly higher) and Q2 & Q3 being harder to find answers for.

    Additional Sockets in Garage

Hey folks Bit of pre-info, we have a new build, 2 years old with a main CU sending power to our attached garage via a 32A breaker. In the garage there is a secondary CU which bizarrely has a 63A RCD main breaker with two supply breakers being 6A for lights & 16A for sockets. Sockets wise...

    Drainage Overkill?

Thanks for the reply Denso. Happy days I guess, atleast its been designed with problem prevention in mind. Even if slightly unsightly. In terms of coverage, do you think I would be alright covering the two boundary chambers with either decking (Access via plank removal or a hatch) or having...

    Drainage Overkill?

Hi guys Not sure if this is the right forum for this (Could be building or garden?) but I thought this is the most relevant. We have a new build that initially had small inspection chambers in the garden. On move in, these had actually been fitted at 600mm square covers. Its only a small...

Gas Fitters, Quick Question re Leak

Yea regarding that, EON said "it's quite a big cosmetic change at our end" No idea why the word cosmetic came into it, but they gave the feeling they didnt want to do it which is odd

Gas Fitters, Quick Question re Leak

They may not have physically installed it, but they facilitated and organised the fitment. They cannot escape the responsibility for contractors they arranged

Gas Fitters, Quick Question re Leak

Thanks for that EONs developer team did fit the meter for our housing developer and then became deemed contract supplier for supplies.

Gas Fitters, Quick Question re Leak

Hi Ian To clarify how serious is the serial number being out ? In terms of usage, the bill I have is correct for the amount of units that has passed through the meter attached to my property. The serial number I've been billed for is obviously not my meter (not sure if it exists elsewhere)...

Gas Fitters, Quick Question re Leak

Thanks muggles. Its correct I cant set a figure, but the way I'd approach this is similar to claiming the meter is faulty with the exception that the meter doesn't need to be sent away. The meter as fitted by EON has been fitted in such a way that it is unable to accurately measure my actual...

Gas Fitters, Quick Question re Leak

Yea it was on the output joint out of the meter. I suspect EON will end up offering a lump sum as compensation as they wont be able to calculate how much was lost due to the leak. It will be interesting if they try to offer nothing and suggest I pay for 100% of the usage when a percentage of...

Gas Fitters, Quick Question re Leak

I would love to agree But as I snagged 172 faults in this property (They given a NHBC survey which asked have I had 0, 0-3, 4-6, 6-9, or 10+ faults lol) this wouldnt suprise me in the slightest. On move in we had three showers & a bath all without hot water. An incorrect amount of zone...

Gas Fitters, Quick Question re Leak

Evening Question for any qualified gas fitters. We moved into a new build in January 2020. Been having fun and games with a disputed bill and EON (Wouldnt get back to us, couldnt setup an account, now want full payment) and part of that has some meter issues. The bill we have has a meter...

Mirror fitting over existing bathroom flex outlet

Each of the three bathrooms has a isolator switch to turn the extractor fan on/off. I'm also fairly sure the sparkies said this is fed from the light circuit and that the mirror power points share the power supply with the fan. Therefore I presume disconnecting the cable in the isolator would...

Mirror fitting over existing bathroom flex outlet

Thanks for the reply Taylor, know what you mean now. I'll have a look at opening up the hole and flushing the blank plate or putting a thinner one in if it sits proud. To Winston's reply (now deleted ?), in this new build after the faults we've had so far, anything is possible lol, inc a...

Mirror fitting over existing bathroom flex outlet

Thanks for the replies Detlef, the mirror has no mounting holes and has bevelled edges designed to fit flush to the wall. I could make a box I guess but it could look strange. Taylor Not sure what you mean. Open the hole in the tile so that the blank plate fits inside and back onto the back box?

Mirror fitting over existing bathroom flex outlet

Might be a daft question but thought I'd ask regardless. We had power (from light circuit) supplied to 600mm above our sinks in our new build incase we wanted a mirror cabinet either on moving in or in the future. We've decided we dont want one yet so are simply going to fit a flat mirror...
