Earth Wire to Metal Switch ?

I understand that the grid mounting bracket is earthed to the metal back box, which itself is earthed. However the metal face plate relies on the screws to earth it to the grid mounting bracket. This just seems odd ?

Earth Wire to Metal Switch ?

So if for any reason the face plate became live then it would connect to earth via the screw fixings. I take it that this is safe and acceptable to our BCO ?

Earth Wire to Metal Switch ?

Hi In our house we have MK modular switch plates fitted. The switch module is snap mounted in a grid. The grid itself is earthed to the metal back box. Now the metal cover plate is simply attached to the grid using 2 screws. So the metal cover plates are earthed via these screws ? I...

    Suspected Timber Joist Deflection

Hi The sistered joist spans 4.2m from the structural partition at one end to the joist hanger at the other end. I have uploaded a snap shot from the drawing showing the plan view of the stairs. I take it that you can reinforce a joist without having to have the reinforcing timber hang...

    Suspected Timber Joist Deflection

Hi thanks for your replies. the osb was fitted then 50mm x 40mm timbers were screwed down to extend the joists so that UFH heating pipes and screed could be installed. The finished floor is 22mm oak flooring secretly nailed to the timber straps. No glue was used. Today I placed 3 acro...

    Suspected Timber Joist Deflection

Hi In my timber framed house there is one area of the upper floor which seems to creak when you walk across it - this area is around the stairs. The upper floor is constructed from regularised 47mm x 195mm C16 solid timber joists. The centres are at 400mm. In the area that moves the...

Honeywell DT90e with an Oil Fired Boiler and Underfloor Heat

Cheers matt1e You are right - each of the DT200s are connected to a thermal actuator which in turn controls the oil fired boiler. The DT90E will work in the same way. What does the cycle rate mean for a thermal actuator which is connected to an oil fired boiler ? 12 cycles per hour - does...

Honeywell DT90e with an Oil Fired Boiler and Underfloor Heat

Hi I have an underfloor heating system where the hot water is supplied by an oil fired boiler. The underfloor heating manifolds are controlled via an older design of the DT200 Honeywell room stats. The system works fine. I would like to change these to DT90E Honeywell room stats. I...

Digital Timer which can be set to come on 15mins per hour ?

Hi Could anyone tell me if they have come across a digital timer than can be set to come only for 15 mins in an hour throughout the day ? I have a secondary return hot water system. Rather than circulating the water all day every day via the bronze pump, I was thinking that it might be...
