    Cracks in Bedroom

Filling and patching. Did mention the scrim tape but again was worried about the mess this would give us (we are both 80 plus) so picked what he hoped would be the less inconvenient route.

    Cracks in Bedroom

Yes he did the tap test and said it hadn't blown. Is going to try the repair I mentioned rather than a full blown down to brick repair to avoid mess for us. Hopes that might work but!!!!!

    Cracks in Bedroom

Some twenty odd years ago we hade an extension built that included a new bedroom, new en-suite and a small room with access from the outside that acts as a store room. The dividing wall between the bedroom and ensuite was built using white building blocks (Celcon?). We had a leak in one corner...

    Summerhouse Guttering

Hi, anyone got any ideas on how to fit guttering to my summerhouse overhang roof. I have seen plenty of advice on fitting guttering to sheds etc. but these all refer to fitting along the side. My summerhouse has an overhang roof and the gap between the top of the door and the roof is quite...

    Ground Soil Percolation Test

Thanks, I was going to have a go myself but at 80 and with a balance problem it might be unwise. Also have read that some councils will only accept result from an "approved person" . Really looking for someone who could carry out the test as some of the figures I've seen quoted seem ridiculous.

    Ground Soil Percolation Test

Anyone know where I can get a reasonably priced ground soil percolation test done near Colchester for my planned sewage treatment plant. I don't have access for a digger so would have to be done either by hand or bore. Thanks

    Portable Micro Crane

Thanks, not my fence so need to ask. Also need to know what engine hoist would be suitable to give correct lift as still have to clear concrete posts.

    Portable Micro Crane

I am looking to see if there is a micro crane I could hire that we allow me to lift a Vortex 6 Sewage Treatment Plant over my neighbours 6 foot fence so that I can take it from the front to my rear garden. The crane will have to be able to go through the rear door of the garage, even if in...

General binding rules: small sewage discharge to the ground

Thanks for the replies which I need to look at in detail. I have emailed the Environment Agency to see if they can clarify timescales etc. I also need to look at the original transfer deeds when my property was sold by the current owner of the septic tanks father to see the actual wording. My...

General binding rules: small sewage discharge to the ground

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place but wasn't sure where to post. I live in a semi-detached bungalow and share septic tank access with the property next door. Currently I split the cost of emptying with the owner (the property is rented out). He has just advised me that under the "new...

    Honeywell v4073a1039 Y Valve Faulty???

Hi after hours of fruitless work our heating engineer diagnosed the problem within five minutes.......the new valve was faulty as it wasn't opening when heat required. Had as I said earlier bought a "compatible" rather than Honeywell....big mistake..have now had a Honeywell fitted and all is...

    Honeywell v4073a1039 Y Valve Faulty???

Thanks for all the replies which have been very helpful. After spending a long time bent over in the airing cupboard, and trying all the suggestions to try and sort things out myself my back has been giving me real pain (part of being older than I was) so I have decided that it has beaten me and...

    Honeywell v4073a1039 Y Valve Faulty???

Hi well I fitted it myself and it's not really possible to fit wrong, at least I don't think so as the screws wouldn't match up. Going back to the wiring picture can you see anything that looks wrong. I could have made a mistake I suppose. If you need clarification on anything then please ask.

    Honeywell v4073a1039 Y Valve Faulty???

Hi, thanks for the reply. I have managed to get a better picture of the wiring which I hope will help you understand better and come up with an answer. The black cable coming in from the bottom left is the new y-valve head can and to the best of my knowledge all I did was a simple one out one...

    Honeywell v4073a1039 Y Valve Faulty???

Good morning I spent all day yesterday trying to sort things out without any success and I have now spent a couple of hours this morning checking and double checking and cannot see what I have got wrong checking against the 2 diagrams provided. I am no good at creating diagrams so apologise...

    Honeywell v4073a1039 Y Valve Faulty???

Thanks for two very instructive replies. It's clearly a wiring issue but not show what I have got wrong. I will compare both diahrams with my own to see if I can trace the problem and also draw my own current wiring circuit for comparison and post for further help if necessary.

    Honeywell v4073a1039 Y Valve Faulty???

I have refitted the replacement and now there is hot water on both side of the y valve i.e. heating/how water but so far none of the radiators are getting warm. The pump casing and the pipes above are all hot (see image) and if I put a screwdriver to my ear I can hear the motor running so the...
