3 millibar leak from Worcester 35CDI Combi Boiler, sounds expensive

Ah ok thanks. I didn't realise that no advice could be given on Gas. My main concern was just looking at pics of the boiler on web it all looks incredibly complicated and was worried I could be looking at thousands to sort out, however if there was a common issue maybe that wouldn't be the case.

3 millibar leak from Worcester 35CDI Combi Boiler, sounds expensive

Yes I turned the gas off. He didn't have the certificate or whatever it is to open and do work on the boiler but is allowed to check the pressure. Not sure of the rules. In short he didn't open the boiler but could detect it was leaking. He also had some kind of gas sniffer which he used all...

3 millibar leak from Worcester 35CDI Combi Boiler, sounds expensive

I had a plumber around yesterday who fitted a new radiator and also blanked off an old gas cooker gas pipe. He did a pressure test on the gas system and found the pipe system was leaking 0.5millibar which he said was not an issue but the carcass of the boiler was leaking 3 millibar gas. He could...

Cooker 60cm depth - is that 60cm for the full height

Hi, I've bought a house and the previous owner took the cooker. The hole left is 60cm wide, 90cm high and 59.6 deep however there are some water pipes running along the wall about 15cm from the top of the hole and these take up about 4cm of the space in terms of depth. I've been looking online...

    Site with trades people ratings

Hi, I have started on the long road of doing up a house I have recently bought (my first). I was wondering if there was a site anywhere that gave reviews and ratings for trades people such as roofers and electricians? Thanks

    Adjusting hinges on upvc windows?

Hi, I bought a house and it has upvc windows all round, fitted 7 or 8 yrs ago, in the main they are fine but the 1st floor bedroom has a bay window and at both sides when the windows are closed the hinges only just bring the two frames together, one side is particularly bad. The hinges seem to...

Another 1930's no felt roof question

Great thanks for the info Tony. My father has basically said the same thing, his advice was get a local roofer used by some friends and recommended to take a look at the roof with a view to sorting out any minor work that is needed such as putting a few tiles back and checking gutters and...

Another 1930's no felt roof question

One follow up question. The wood work in the roof appears to be in very good condition so I was thinking that maybe getting a roofer in at some point to felt the roof might be a good plan. The house is a 3 bed detached in the Midlands, what range of prices should I expect for the roof to be...

    Calculating house extension cost (rough)

Thanks for the info fella's. I plan to have a good think about any work on the house when I move in and decide what the priorities are and what I am willing to spend. The point about the gas and fuse boxes is useful as I hadn't even considered that!

    Calculating house extension cost (rough)

Ah Ok thanks for the info, I will also take a look at the bible. I assume by m2 that is based on the floor area but I'm not sure how a 2nd story and roof work comes in to that ?

    Calculating house extension cost (rough)

Hi, I'm buying my first house and already have some idea's about extending it. Basically it already has a ground floor half width kitchen extension and I'd like to extend all the way to the right of it across the back. I'd also like to add a two floor extension which would take the kitchen out...

Rebuilding wall at front of driveway

Hi, I'm in the process or buying a house and the wall at the front of the drive is in a fairly bad condition, cracks in the main due to someone driving in to it I think. I was thinking I would get a builder in to remove the existing wall, check the foundations and repair/replace and put a new...

Another 1930's no felt roof question

Thanks for the replies I've been a little surprised there isn't a standard easy to use product that is available that you can just, spray, squeeze out rub on in place of the existing of old torching. I assume this isn't the type of job a standard roofer would get involved with. I will need the...

1930 house solid walls, damp external patch

Hi thanks for the responses. The floor isn't actually bouncing back, maybe my descriiption wasn't great, as what i meant was that the floor flexed a little and didn't feel dead. I am buying outright so no banks involved. There is no sign at all internally of damp, even the exposed bricks in...

1930 house solid walls, damp external patch

Hi, I'm in the process of buying a 1930's detached house. It's in good condition but the survey highlighted a damp reading on one of the chimneys in the living room. I got a damp survey and they said the same, recommended taking 1m of plaster off and injecting and putting anti salt plaster on...
