    Shower/pump problems.

Is the cold feed taken directly from the cold water tank and separately to the cold feed to the hot water tank. None of the pipework to the tank and pump should be shared.

Megaflo 210 - how do restore pressure?

The big red cylinder will be for the boiler water (radiators, etc). The one for the unvented cylinder (potable water) would be white, but it is a Megaflow so there won't be an external expansion vessel.

    Remeha Avanta 18V

Surely setting it to 1 covers both bases as it depends on whether pin 1 or 3 has been used on X2. If pin 3 has been used then setting to 2 wouldn't work.

    Compression fittings and PTFE tape

You're absolutely right, but it won't stop a lot of people telling you otherwise. The olive needs to bite into the pipe to hold it in place and to form the seal. Adding PTFE tape might make a seal, but leave the olive 'loose' on the pipe. It's not good practice.

Can you hire power flushing equipment

In anticipation of a new boiler I hired a flushing machine from Brandon Tool Hire for around £60 for the weekend. I connected it across the pump connections, ran the system with X800 in it for a couple of hours with the boiler fired up, reversed the flow many times, etc and then flushed through...

Vaillant VR65: change from unvented cylinder stat to VR10?

I hadn't read your post properly .... because you don't have a Valiant Unistor with your Valiant boiler you have to stick with the conventional overheat protection. How the VR10 will interact with the on/off cylinder control is anyone's guess without knowing how it's all wired up.

Vaillant VR65: change from unvented cylinder stat to VR10?

A constant temperature on the flow doesn't mean that the boiler is not modulating. When the water in the tank is cold there is more heat transferred through the coil than when the water is hot. The flow temperature will be the same, but the boiler output will have modulated to adjust to the...

    Heat from vertical boiler flue

The air in your house is not dry and when it permeates through the ceilings it is going to cool down and start to make the loft feel damp. Condensation will form on any cold surfaces. The flue is warming the air in the loft and so is helping to prevent condensation. Any big gaps around it though...

to fuse spurs on the system

True, the answer is dependent on the setup. I was assuming that the VR65 was with the motorised valve(s) and the pump was in a system boiler. A stand alone pump away from the boiler would change things.

to fuse spurs on the system

Excerpt from VR65 manual: There is no 230V link between the boiler and VR65.

to fuse spurs on the system

If you're worried about the Ebus connection unbalancing the RCDs on the two separate circuits then I don't think this will be a problem because the Ebus connection is a data connection only. It shouldn't take any current. An analogy would be a PC on the upstairs ring main and a PC on the...

    Setting Condensing Boiler Flow Temperature

Good, as that's what I'm doing as I replace my radiators. I guess aesthetics only really kick in when the radiator turns from a single to a double. Although some people seem to get hung up about them whatever.

    Setting Condensing Boiler Flow Temperature

So if starting from scratch then it is my understanding that the radiators could be sized for a return temperature of 50°C and a 20°C temperature drop across flow and return. Thereby resulting in a deltaT of 40°C. According to the manufacturer's' details the radiators then have to be oversized...

Pipe Clamp / Clip Options - Unistrut?

I was going to order from Holland one next week, but a UK source would be better.

Pipe Clamp / Clip Options - Unistrut?

Am I right in thinking that the indirect coil is not hooked up on this cylinder?

Pipe Clamp / Clip Options - Unistrut?

Installation is nothing special from a professional point of view; an Avanta 18S and a Santon unvented cylinder (with all relevant works done by a GSF and G3 registered engineer). Assuming I can get small quantity at a reasonable cost I'll go for some 21mm deep channel and some clamps with...
