    GU10 leds

How long should these things last. I have 2 sets of spotlights in my kitchen with 4 bulbs in each. These GU10s keep having issues. They normally manifest by either flickering or go a bit dim and when light turned off they stay on for a couple of seconds flicker and go off. It's pretty random...

    Poor hot water pressure/flow

I'll have a look in the boiler manual. All stopcocks under the boiler are in the open position. Maybe if note my wife has just mentioned that a couple of weeks ago she switched on a hot water tap and it was spurting like the water had been off. Did this for a couple of seconds. This made me...

    Poor hot water pressure/flow

Hi. I've recently noticed the hot water flow/pressure in all taps is pretty low, when shower is on and a hot water tap opened the shower flow almost stops. Cold water pressure appears ok. I have a Ideal logic combi 24 boiler that has given no issues and is regularly serviced. Central heating is...

    Bathroom down light replacement

Are these major alterations. I've never fitted down lights as I don't like them. These are at the in-laws house. Sounds like an electrician job unless it's a pretty easy swap out. Do the transformers etc come in a kit. I can buy the down lights from nearly anywhere.

    Bathroom down light replacement

A couple of bulbs have blown in the bathroom down lights. All bar 1 appear to have corroded and I cannot unscrew them to get the bulb out. I've kept 1 out and sprayed wd40 into the area where is unscrews and hopefully will work otherwise it's new ones. Question is, are all down lighters about...

    Click clack waste

My bathroom sink has one of these god forsaken things. Yesterday it stuck in the down position and refused to move. I finally got it back up using a sucker. I've unscrewed the head and squirted wd40 down the side of the mechanism, and it seems to be moving ok,but as it's started doing this, does...

    Curtain track in conservatory.

That's what I thought. It's a lightweight track and curtains so hopefully should be fine. I can't think of any other way to do it

    Curtain track in conservatory.

We've had a proper roof put onto our conservatory recently. My wife wants curtains up in there now. They won't be heavy duty, but the only place to put the rail is to screw into the UPVC covering at the top of the windows. I've posted a pic. Is it ok to do this... I was going to drill a very...

    Dimming led light

Great thanks. Not fitted a dimmer since they phased out 'normal' light bulbs.

    Dimming led light

Want to put a dimmer switch in 1 bedroom but I've never fitted a dimmer switch to an led light before and after reading up I'm even more confused. People are now talking about leading and trailing edges and minimum wattages. I know I need to get a specific dimmable led bulb. I've seen these on...

    Surface drain blocked

The grate is surrounded by paving stones secured in place with concrete. Will be a pretty major task to get all these up to check where it runs to. I would have thought I would have come across the exit whilst digging down this far by now inside the pipe. I'll try rodding down further to see if...

    Surface drain blocked

Thanks. I've attached some photos. Rather embarrassing but it's not 2 1/2 ft, but it seemed like it when I was digging it out.... So far down to the gravel its just over a foot down. It's still going down. I'm going up have to get something or some rods to see how far it goes down, and try the...

    Surface drain blocked

That seems to be the case. I'll post a picture of the inside of the pip tomorrow. I was scraping out lots of gravel at this level I've got to.

    Surface drain blocked

Sounds like mine. I would have thought that I would have come across the drain how far down I've got. The builder was known to be a bit of a bodger so I've heard. House built 1973, if so it's been draining into that for 50yrs or so.....

    Surface drain blocked

Managed to get onto this again. United utilities deny any knowledge of anything on the front of the house. Dug down again, now around 2 1/2 ft down, and still no sign of any other pipe. I'm now to a layer of gravel. When it has rained, it's filled up the drain to the cover but not overflowed...

    Sealing around drainage trench

Does anyone know best way to seal these gaps in the drain trench around my conservatory. The narrow one I would have thought some clear silicone sealant but what about the larger gaps. Should I use sand and cement and them seal once dried or other way.
