    New Boiler, and 15mm pipe?

No I'm not. And to be honest if an installer fitted a new boiler and it worked fine on 15mm pipe I wouldn't give a toss. But if it didn't work, of course I'd complain. Not to corgi, but to the installer. Clive100, thats exactly what he's going to do. He's just been round and we removed some...

    New Boiler, and 15mm pipe?

Thanks for all the replies guys :) I'm not trying to do things cheaper, although it would be better for me if it costs less  I will trust what the plumber says, I was just curious really.

    New Boiler, and 15mm pipe?

Yeah, its quite a long run, with quite a few bends to be honest. There is a valve one the 15mm pipe, just before it enters the boiler. Could he test the flow there or wouldnt it work really? I agree though, sounds like it might be a bigger job than I expected.

    New Boiler, and 15mm pipe?

Oh right, Im sure the plumber said it was against the regs......20years ago it wouldnt matter, but he said it would now. So if he tested the pressure and it was ok, he wouldnt have to changed the pipework?

    New Boiler, and 15mm pipe?

Oh, I do :) Just dont want to be ripped off really. As the 1st quote I had, he named the boiler, so i googled it and it came out at £800....so he wanted £900 labour for a day (he said it would take a day). Having a quick read, it seems its illegal to use 15mm pipe now? So the floor boards...

    New Boiler, and 15mm pipe?

Thanks for the replies. DP, what do you mean? I have a combi at the moment, and it runs ok (for its ages etc). kirkgas, I've tried having all four rings, the oven, heating and running hot water, (although like you just said the heating wont be on when the hot water is) and there is never...

    New Boiler, and 15mm pipe?

Am I right in thinking that a 15mm gas pipe going in to a combi boiler is illegal now? Just my current 20 year old (ish) combi boiler is on its way out, and I need a new one. One plumber came round, and didnt check the existing pipework, and quoted £1700 which I though was far too much for a...

    Unused fused switch removal

There has never been Storage or Combination Heaters, only electric ones. The building use to be one large house, but has been converted.....not sure who did the electrical work etc, but there has been quite a few dead things like this, and we cannot find the other ends. The only thing we can...

    Immersion Heater Switch to Timer?

Thanks mate! Shouldn't be too difficult :)

    Unused fused switch removal

Thanks for the help :) One of the sockets is live, so he is just going to put a single socket on it now. The other one was dead, and there was no wires near/in the CU which could be connected together, so I assume this is safe to plaster over?

    Unused fused switch removal

I wont do that then! thanks :) I understand what you mean about the zones now. If the heaters have their own circuit, I dont see there being much of a problem now you said about trimming the wires back at the CU. But what if they are on the same circuit as other sockets etc and its not...

    Unused fused switch removal

Apologise, I dont really understand the links you posted? I understand what you mean though about cutting the cables back at the CU. What if the heaters are on the same circuit as other sockets etc, and this isnt possible cutting them back at the CU? Is it against the regs to terminate the...

    Immersion Heater Switch to Timer?

Oh, I see! So leave the immersion switch where it is, but then add the timer in between the switch and the elements?

    Immersion Heater Switch to Timer?

Its a double pole switch connected to a dedicated radial circuit. Does that timer you linked mate, replace the switch? As Im wanting to remove the large red immersion switch which is a pain to get to, and replace it with timer. Thanks :)

    Immersion Heater Switch to Timer?

Can you replace an immersion switch with some form of timer? If so where can I get one? Thanks :)

    Unused fused switch removal

My friend is just doing up his flat, and currently has crappy electric heater things on the walls which he wants rid of. There is a fused switch next to each of the heaters. Whats the best way to cover these switches? In the sense he wants to plaster over the holes where the switches were, but...

    Bathroom Lighting with Extract Fan

Thanks Tim, there doesnt seem to be any isolator for it, and it isnt aon a timer, just turn off when the light switch turns off. So really, there shouldnt be a problem adding the extra two lights as shown in the diagram? ban-all-sheds: Yeah, I know the score ;) But I'll admit Im not the most...

    Bathroom Lighting with Extract Fan

Someone I know wanted to put some new spot lights in his bathroom, so decided to do it himself, he started the job, but doesnt want to finish it and has asked me to. I work in heavy industry as an electrician, so arent too familiar with dosestic setups, but ive wired plenty of lights and sockets...

Can you get a double socket, but one half hardwired?

   Thanks for the advice guys! I dont think an unswitched socket would cure the problem to be honest, as people would just unplug it then. Lectrician, yeah the booster does look crap, but he is just wanting a quick fix really. A surface box would be a lot easier...

Can you get a double socket, but one half hardwired?

A friend of mine wants to hardwire a TV booster in, as people keep turning it off in his B&B. Obviously the first solution would be to chase the wall out, and put a fused spur off the ring main. But, a simpler solution would be to replace the double socket face plate with something with one...
