Fixing old door into new stud wall??

Ok - I'll measure my door tomorrow and come back to you to establish what size door lining I need. I can then but that, construct it and then I'll know what size frame to build in my stud wall as you say. Many thanks

    fixing timber to brick

Yes I did read a out timbers being wedged into mortor joints. I guess whichever method I use to fix the sides of the frame as long as I secure the footer and header well and screw the sides into header and footer then it eint matter too much if the sides are not secured as well

    fixing timber to brick

Thank you very much for the advice. I also have to fix the base timber to a steel joist. I was going to bolt the timber to the steel, but instead of cutting holes in steel (is ok because I asked my structural engineer) I could use stixall instead?

Finished job. I sat two trimmers side by side in the end of the full width of the 100mm brick and used joist hangers to secure everywhere else. Feels secure.
