    Is it possible to fault find on and repair circuit boards on boilers? I just changed one and could see a suspect resister looked burnt out, board was 130 pound, thought could repair instead of replace.?

    yep, first thing a did, its fine. Some times the boiler works totally fine, as if no probs at all, then can just go into lock out. Its very intermitent. Are the leads and probes common problams on these?? Also, just remembered, some times when heating in demand boiler doesn't fire and pump...

    the flame retification probe looks in good condition, and lead is ok too. how can you tell if its the probe? i checked the earth lead too from this and it looks a good fix. What about the board?

    yeah, plug on dry and leave old one connected. you only need to buy one because they are both identical. Prob is the DHW thermister, there not expensive, around £15 i think.

    prob the filling loop not closed or, faulty DHW heat exchanger split topping boiler up constantly. Normally a couple of dischargers of water would lower pressure enough for PRV to close. At least its not your boiler!

    yer sound... i had one about a month or two ago which had been rubbing on the top of a wooden floor board, it wore all the way through the fitting and the leaking water took the ceiling down. Another plastic pipe under the floor down stairs had been expanding when hot, bending and rubbing...

    i saw a job by BG last week , normal u6 (212ft3) meter, ordinary 22mm union on meter, converted to 28mm straight away, then ran about 10m and then down to 22mm to boiler.

    i fit all my boilers with a 32mm pipe, the 20mm pipe from the boiler go's straight into this, i looks better and i've never had one freeze. Most manufacters recommend this now for the condesate pipe.

    there's no easy or hard way, needs a receiver unit which req's a 240v feed, along with a switch live and common from your boiler (use instuctions to find where external controls connect, prob be where the time clock switch live connects into the boiler) Then the prog/stat needs configoring...

    21 Year old boiler

    I thought i was a conventional boiler, NOT a combi, so flow rates are nothing to do with it??? If thats the case, i would prob fit 30 cdi, big enough for amount of rads and plenty powerful to do hot water.

    worcester bosch, Vaillant are known to be quite decent boilers, as are the top range Baxi's. I prefer Bosch and Vaillant myself.

    cheers gasmick, thought it might be, its the new dry clip on type, easy to change. Also had a thought about the fan running on low speed not keeping APS open? I'll try the sensor with my multi meter tomorrow. cheers.

    are you in a hard water area? Why was last heat exchanger changed? was it your DHW heat exchanger? Best bet is get a new thermister (both heating and DHW are the same) and dont fit but connect it up dry to the heating one first and try your water. If same probs then try the water one, if...

    Only 2 year old, hot water works great, heating runs for about 5-10 secs and switches off, then tries again. Doesn't stop on and keeps repeating htis cycle untill you turn off manually. Again water works fine. Any ideas ??
