    busbar theoretical....

I would suggest that the answer is no since unless people like you are on hand to oversee that the load is balanced we could have a fire on our hands.

    time to renounce religion..

This is true, but science maybe isn't about proving things, it is about predicting how the universe and everything in it works. Hawking says that a goldfish in a round bowl would have a distorted view of reality, but ( if it was a clever goldfish) could still come up with theories that could...

    Bathroom/Bedroom conversion

Hi, we have a 1 bed property and want to convert to 2 bed. The bathroom is 12ft by 8ft and we want to shrink this to about 5ft by 8ft and have a 7ft (just under) by 8ft bedroom. The bathroom will be accessible to both bedrooms through their own lockable doors. Would this add value to...

    Polish Plumbing...

Flexible connectors to your rads are a great idea when you need to decorate! :D And that toilet was so far away from the wall, maybe the owner has a large ass and can't sit on a toilet that is too close to the wall...you didn't think of that did you?

    Working with this bloke

I do know an electrical apprentice who failed his final exams...doesn't stop him working as a spark to this day over 20 years later  Also know a mechanic who waffled his way into a job as an electrician at a large car plant...more often than not companies just don't check your...

    24 volts DC

Your main concern when working with 24VDC is that you do not short circuit the power supply and cause damage to it or other devices powered from it. If the power supply is of high enough wattage a short circuit in theory could cause a burn if your skin happens to be next to where the short is...

    Leave it running or not?

At work a few months ago they started telling eveyone to turn off their pc when they went home instead of leaving them on overnight. This was part of an energy cost saving exercise. Since then the number of pc's going wrong has sky rocketed and our 1 man IT team has been very busy changing...

    Who in their right mind

Surely in any job if you can't come in to work because you haven't sorted out your childcare arrangements then the company has a right to discipline you. And if it keeps happening they have the right to sack you regardless of your race or sex.

    Another Quality Install.

Often on this forum I have seen work like this and have come to a conclusion. To be an electrician I think you have to have a propensity to be tidy and to err on the side of caution. Cable terminations and runs have to be 'just so', if there is any bare conductor showing, or if a trunking...

    Kitchens and Part P

I can never understand this exemption, changing like for like. Once a guy brought an extension lead in to work that he had changed the plug on. He said the washing machine that was powered by this lead failed to work. I then explained to him that he had the earth wire and live wire...

    Earth Bond in Bathroom

Items like sinks and baths may need to have double check valves fitted to the water pipes to prevent back syphoning of dirty water into the water supply...have they fitted any of these?
