    Paint Splatters ...

I did the same in 2017, but fortunately realised as I did it and managed to wash it off about 20 minutes later. Just as well I did spot it as the paint in the road is still clearly visible today, 5 years later.

Electric gate fob range - what to expect?

I presume you have tried new batteries in the transmitter?

    Solar panel usage

You get paid for everything you generate, whether you use it or not (generation tariff). And then you get paid some more for every unit you export (ie don't use yourself). As you don't have an export meter they simply assume you export 50% of what you generate. And how much you get paid depends...

    Hoover HP 2300 001 - Take apart

I'm trying to replace the switch on a Hoover HP2300 001 upright, but can't fathom out how to take it apart. Any clues anyone? Or source of exploded diagram?

    Stairwell sensor

I'm looking at replacing this old PIR which is at the top of the stairs, and has a downwards facing sensor. Can someone suggest a good replacement. (And yes the dodgy wiring will be sorted and I will screw it to the wall, rather than use double sided tape as the original installer did.)

    Servicing Geberit concealed cistern

Apparently, can all be done through that plate (!)

    Servicing Geberit concealed cistern

I think the chrome flush plate slides to the side. It's either that or up.

    Boiler Sizing

Not a gas engineer, just a DIYer, but I'd suggest buying a one off survey from here: https://www.heat-engineer.com/ Like a lot of things, doing it properly takes time.

    Lead Times

A question for the professionals here. For boiler and radiator replacement, what sort of lead time do you generally have? If I wanted the work done in say May, when should I start looking for someone? Or is it never too early?

Noob configuration idea for best of both worlds!

Thanks. That will be useful. Unfortunately looks like ECO RF is only available as a combi

Noob configuration idea for best of both worlds!

Not wanting to hijack the thread, but what model is the noisy one? Looking at Intergas to replace existing boiler, and noise may be an issue.

Hot Water Cylinder Fed By PV Powered Immersion (and gas)

That's exactly what I do with mine - Immersion stat higher than tank stat, and boiler only timed to come on late afternoon. Very occasionally boost on a cloudy day when there is a lot of hot water being consumed, usually as a result of a day long baking session. The economics didn't really...

    Composite doors

I'm looking at replacing a hardwood front door with a composite one. Knowing nothing about composite doors, can anyone give any advice on things to look out for, good/bad makes etc.? Thanks

Noise level -unvented cylinder versus hot water pump?

Had a pump for a few years. Since changing to unvented, still can't get used to the silence when someone turns on a hot tap. Wish I'd done it sooner.

Time / Cost of unvented cylinder fitting ?

I've no idea what the going rate is, but I paid approx. £1800 for supply and fit of unvented cylinder (180l) last year. This included conversion from Y to S plan, plus removal of all tanks in loft, including water softener (who puts a water softener in the loft?), and a general tidy of the...

    Boiler on time

Suspect that this is the minimum on time for proportional control, and the default for gas boilers is usually 1 minute. 'Maximum 5 minutes' is probably that the minimum on time can be between 1 and 5 minutes.

    honeywell cm927 to valliant 937

The connection from the fused spur is powering the receiver. The second connection from the receiver to the boiler is not providing power to the boiler, but making/breaking a connection that enables the boiler. Hence: There will be another cable (perhaps from the same fused spur) powering...
