    Electric UFH Thermostat Advice

Unfortunately being outside of the room the built in air sensor is unusable. Do you know if the remote air sensor is the same device as an additional floor sensor? I can't find anywhere to purchase a warmup air sensor.

    Electric UFH Thermostat Advice

I have an existing Warmup Tempo UFH thermostat for my bathroom. Is is located outside the bathroom, has no remote air probe, and so is only controlled by the floor temperature. As a result I'm constantly having to change the settings to match the weather. Not ideal, so thought I'd change it...

    Mirror Heater Demister Switch

I used one of these timed relays. If you want a single switch, use one of these (available in different colours). Note that the switch can be surface mounted - no need for a back box.

    Mirror Heater Demister Switch

I had exactly this dilemma a few months ago. The electrician tried to persuade me to wire in with the lights, but to me this was just wasting electricity. The mirror is about 2m long so the heating pads are a reasonable size. You don't need to heat the mirror whenever someone uses the...

    Leading edge dimmer and LEDs

Can I use a decent LED GU10 (such as Megaman 141401) on a leading edge dimmer, or do I need to change it for trailing edge? Thanks

    potterton suprima light sequence

I've just dug out the paperwork (installation manual) that I received when the PCB was changed, and it is indeed part number 5111603. Lloyd

    potterton suprima light sequence

New PCB cured my occasional lockouts and random (very loud) knocking (I'd personally describe it more like a small explosion!). It was a completely different PCB module, not just a like for like replacement.

Solar Panels - Not generating power??

Just be patient and wait for a bit of sunshine. Light levels are less than you think on these miserable cloudy days. My system had generated less than 400Whrs today

    Washing Machine Recommendations

Intermittent operation, now a strong smell of burning and error codes on the display. Time for a new washing machine. Any recommendation on make/model? Washer only. 1600 rpm. A+++ energy rating. Must have half load and quick wash functions. Thanks

    Hotpoint WT960 Fails to Start

Makes sense. I understand this model can have one of two different motors. Is there anyway to determine which one from the serial number (or any other means)?

    Hotpoint WT960 Fails to Start

Thanks. But the first thing it normally does is open the water valve, so why would the motor brushes affect it?

    Hotpoint WT960 Fails to Start

I have a Hotpoint WT960 that sometimes fails to start. Close the door, select the program, hit start, the door locks and then it just sits there. I have to cancel, and then try again. Is the door switch a likely candidate for the fault?

    UFH Thermostats

Not sure if I should post this here, or the electrics forum. I currently have a Warmup Tempo thermostat for my bathroom (electric) UFH. This only uses a floor probe, and is situated outside the bathroom. So you can imagine that the control is not brilliant. If I wanted to change this, what...

    Latest Thinking About LED Lamps

Are these the 120 degree beam ones that are currently being advertised? For what is usually a spot, seems a very large beam angle. I guess this is why the surface of the lamp is not flat.

What is the purpose of a relay switch?

I'm not sure what device you mean?

What is the purpose of a relay switch?

No. Very much on or off. Blind motor on / blind motor off.

What is the purpose of a relay switch?

In this context, for switching things on/off using remote switches - eg lights that you don't want on a dimmer, a motor etc. I use them for switching the led and CFL lights in my bathroom, and a timer relay for the mirror demisters (stops them being left on)
