Seeking advice on supplying two outbuildings

Hugely helpful John, thanks very much for taking the time. I'll take this all on board and have a chat with an electrician and see what, if any, they're happy for me to do myself. Thanks again!

Seeking advice on supplying two outbuildings

Thanks for the replies, most helpful. Assuming I did want to go down the local TT route for the outbuildings, can anyone clarify the below points for me? I'm not 100% I've got it right in my own head. Thanks!

Seeking advice on supplying two outbuildings

Thanks for the reply. Sorry, of course the lighting would be radial my mistake. It was my understanding that PME earth is not supposed to be exported outwith the "equipotential zone, i.e my house? It's often done but not supposed to be done? I thought the requirement for metal CU's was for a...

Seeking advice on supplying two outbuildings

Hi all, I'm after some advice and clarification on a few points for a proposed supply to two outbuildings in my garden, a shed/workshop I've just built and a small BBQ cabin further down the garden, neither of these have any water/gas supplies into them and are of timber construction. Firstly...

Supply type identification and opinion on earth loop reading

Thanks for that I'll get straight on to them. A little more information has come in from the previous owner via email, the floors are solid concrete but apparently the "main supply does come in there" and it's definitely the documents they got for those jobs, their name and address is on one of...

Supply type identification and opinion on earth loop reading

Ok, so a little update. I've spoken to the previous owner and they've forwarded me the two certificates of installation and it seems that actually the supply is TN-C-S, confirmed on both. The house was fully re-wired in 2012 and this electrician tested it all and fitted a new CU, here is the...

Supply type identification and opinion on earth loop reading

Can't take credit for that one, we only moved in a year or so ago and it was already like that. So.... here's some pics of the CU open, and one pic of one of the "mains" tails next to a core from a 10mm 3-core SWA (for size, looks like 16mm to me?). Cheers

Supply type identification and opinion on earth loop reading

Thanks for this. Replies above. P.S, we're only assuming this is a TT supply based on what we can see, it may not be the case but the loop reading would seem to indicate it he says.

Supply type identification and opinion on earth loop reading

Thanks for the reply. Now that I don't know, it may well be >200 ohms, perhaps the MFT displays that as an upper limit, I didn't ask? I have no way to know where the electrode is, it's a 1950's end terrace ex council, certainly no sign of one outside that I can see (and I've had a good look)...

Supply type identification and opinion on earth loop reading

Hi all, Thanks for taking the time. I'm looking to supply power to a shed/workshop I've just built a few metres from the house, and from there down a 25m run to a small BBQ cabin. So I've had an electrician out to quote for the job this morning left concerned that the supply was not earthed...

Hello, I'm building a decent size timber workshop/shed at home. I'm effectively building it like a common US timber frame house, lined inside, 4x2 framework, insulated, breather membrane then cladding the outside with T&G tanalised shiplap cladding. The windows and door are double glazed...

Hi all, sorry about the urgency here but im currently in darkness in my kitchen. I've just fitted 2 x dimmable spot bar (4 x halogen bulbs on each) lights in my kitchen. There's just one switch, it worked fine with the old switch. When I removed the switch the only points on the back is...
