Weird Light Switch - Any Ideas?

Digital breakup is it not working then working then not working in rapid succession. "... different features like HDCP...." Must be the only person outside of the film studios who think that HDCP is a feature. More like a pain in the bum (and no, I am not ripping blu rays but it causes quite a...

We need to talk about Kevin, sorry, I mean ban-all-sheds

I took it in context of the OP and how BAS replies on a internet forum. He also didn't mention that the emergency services may have been informed (your assumption) or that the person responding was a trained medical person at work. AFAIK BAS is not a qualified spark and is not replying as part...

We need to talk about Kevin, sorry, I mean ban-all-sheds

Nah, was only commenting on Bernard's idea of a person going on the internet to find out how to not bleed to death really. Humour can be lost on the internet :) To be honest I have learned more (especially about what I don't know) from BAS than most people on here - few exceptions such as...

We need to talk about Kevin, sorry, I mean ban-all-sheds

Hmmm, but they would consult a professional on a dedicated number not consult an internet forum which is usually BAS's plan B in his list.

We need to talk about Kevin, sorry, I mean ban-all-sheds

I am now imaging someone logging onto an internet forum with blood spurting everywhere :) Probably very true in this age. Surely the only advice would be "phone an b****y ambulance now"

    Micro usb port on tablet

Just got a windows tablet. Can't say for certain but cannot see why not as it takes USB keys quite happily. Hope this helps. (if I had an external CD drive I would test it for you.)

    New Oven delivered, refused installation

Got my oven from John Lewis. Thought they might not be able to install it due to old fuse box, but not a word of complaint from electrician. So, some are good to their word.

    vaillant ecomax 824 f20 fault

Yes, did read that. Just a bit weird that it was posted early this February so this new boiler has just been fitted and should have a warranty and you should be chasing the installer. Surely the warranty is void if you start doing things yourself?

Structure within a structure for paintball

My biggest concern would be dynamic forces. The shelving may take 3000kg static load, but people running around on them, sideways movement, sudden stops etc and I would be looking at something better designed personally.

    Kindle Paperwhite

On the home screen, select and hold the book you want to remove and you get a menu which includes "remove from this device".

Any idea where I can get..

We use profiles in theatre so we can shape the beam . Shopfitters use smaller ones which may be suitable for a domestic setting. You would probably have to mount it a reasonable distance from the picture to get the beam spread right.

    New wall light is dim

Random thought, the OP didn't replace an elv light with an external transformer with a lv light ?

    Outside lights

Sorry, but after 20 years doing general DIY and electrics, it would not be easy to wire lights up in series as you have done. I think you need to listen to PBOD who has given good advice.

    self employed????????????

Its quite simple, if you are working for one (or more) employer at a weekly wage you are employed, not self employed,as the quote posted by Inky Pete shows. If HMRC enforce this is another thing entirely, though I have heard rumours that they are gradually getting tougher on it. I think...
