    panasonic surround sound

Sub bass is omni directional and can be postioned any where in the room (apart from as a coffee table :) ) I think he was judging you judgement on the fact that you made so many mistakes in your previous post, though probably was a bit harsh in his wording such is the nature of forums.

    panasonic surround sound

Thats the centre speaker on top of the TV. Subs can be anywhere in the room (sound at that level is omni directional - though some manufacturers disagree) and do not neccasarily have to be on the floor. Speakers only cause problems with CRT Tvs - that is an LCD -no magnets pulling at...

    Electrics for Marquee wedding

As a rule I would agree with you, but this will only involve 4 x circuits and can be done neatly for a private party if enough forethought is used. As for the genny - in an ideal world a nice silent genny set (or two with switchover and synched) would be ideal. With an engineer on standby to...

    Electrics for Marquee wedding

quick answer - ignore the lighting circuit and the alarm circuit. Use the Ring final circuits as your power source. Will your kitchen be in use for the caterers? Get the power consumption from everybody so you can spread the load properly. (Good luck in this one, nobody ever seems to be...

    Outdoor socket advice

I think the inportant thing to remember, on reading this thread, is that you want to do it safely. This is good but you must test it to with the right testering equipment to make sure any safety devices can actually operate.

How do you connect up two tv to a digital ariel?

Quick note: 1) no such thing as a digital ariel so don't get suckered by that one. you just need one for the band that is transmitted (or get a wide band one). 2) A freeview recorder will only have one RF input required. Sat recorders have a feed from the LNB per tuner due to the way sat...

    Quirky Freeview display issues

Humax so far has been best for me. Solid and reliable but more expensive than the stuff the supermarkets sell.

    Quirky Freeview display issues

Are you running of an internal ariel?. Could be interference caused by electrical switching of high loads (guessing you have a combi boiler that kicks in when you do the hot water). Best to use an external ariel. Also check that it is suitable for the channels that are transmitting the...

    Recording live music to mp3

You could also look into zoom recorders http://www.gear4music.com/Recording-and-Computers/Zoom-H4n-Handheld-Digital-Recorder/A1C. Well worth the expense. Also has line in and mic in. Do us a favour though and only use them for your own practice sessions. edit to clarify - no dodgy bootlegs...

wiring a 3 pin 13 amp mains site plug (blue) not domestic!!

Can you clarify that a bit. Is it fused and has a surge protector or are you assuming that a surge protector is the same as a fuse (which it is not).

how far does your projector have to be from screen?

How about these - 8ft from screen for 10ft horizontal. These wererigged in Greece by the local supplier, hence use of trestle tables as stands. Would that look good in your house :) As others have said, it all depends on the make and model of projector, the lens (esp. if they cannot be...

Bathroom Downlighters and plastic panelled ceiling

Others will be able to say if a certificate of works is fine, I was just a bit worried that you said he was a friend of the other halfs and the plumber - immediately thought of a handyman quickly popping in some lights for you at the same time as plumbing up a bathroom and thought you needed to...

Bathroom Downlighters and plastic panelled ceiling

Did he do this as a special for you? Or was it properly quoted for etc. Tough one but the fact is that he has made a mistake in his choice of lights by his own admission (wrong panels for lights but he knew what surface he was fixing them to) and he should be sorting it out at his cost. Also...

Bathroom Downlighters and plastic panelled ceiling

Is this the same electrician in all the quotes? If so he specced the wrong lights for the panels and should be sorting out the problem himself at his cost as he has ruined your new ceiling.[/b]

    Sky arial for freeview

As above, your "sky Ariel" picks up signals from a satellite. For Freeview you need to pick up signal from a terrestrial transmitter - therefore you need an aerial not a dish.

Just confirm that it is a 240v model as Japan uses 100v. You may get a very fast jet of water :) Follow BASs' advice on installation.
