    PRV leaking

Well since bringing the boiler pressure down to about 1.5 bar that's made the world of difference. There may still be the odd drip but I didn't stand around outside looking up at the pipe long enough to find out. The pressure doesn't seem to be dropping either so hopefully that's done the trick.

    PRV leaking

Thanks guys for the feedback. Filling loop is closed I can confirm :) The pressure actually hasn't gone back up to 3 bar my mistake it's about 2.6/2.7 but what I'm going to do is bleed one of the rads to bring the pressure down to 1.5bar and then observe. The boiler is in the attic so to get a...

    PRV leaking

Boiler: Worcester Junior 24 We had the boilerman round to service and sort out some issues with our boiler. We had an external expansion vessel fitted as replacing the original apparently would have been a major hassle and more expensive. Fan was replaced and plate to plate HE was flushed out...

Garden shed roof: felt nails lifting

Lifted one of the nails earlier on today to find the shortest felt nails I've ever seen so think it may be time to buy some proper ones. No idea why the person who fitted this felt thought it was a good idea to use these.

Garden shed roof: felt nails lifting

Overlap is pretty generous but it's those lifting nails that are bugging me. There must be a better option as no matter how many layers of felt I put on the nail still has to go through to the wood and if it lifts it's going to let water in. So tempted to use a decking screw combined with a...

Garden shed roof: felt nails lifting

I've got a leak in the shed roof and when taking a gander I noticed a lot of the felt nails had lifted ever so slightly. I'm assuming these are the correct felt nails so this can't be normal for this to happen. Why is this happening and what can I do to remedy it?

Laying a patio, loose stone a week later

The easyjoint which I've already used on an existing patio was fairly easy to apply but time will tell how good it actually turns out to be.

Laying a patio, loose stone a week later

Laid a sandstone patio a week ago and today found one stone which I managed to lift with my hand. The stones were laid on a base of sand/cement which was a full bed laid wet (6:1 mix in a mixer). I found the base to be fairly easy to lift up with my SDS hammer drill. With the larger chunks I...

    Cutting 22mm Sandstone paving slabs??

Still alive  Couldn't believe how easy it was to cut the stone. Weight of the grinder was enough to cut the stone to a depth which allowed me to simply snap of the unwanted bit by hand. The only problem I encountered was the dust it kicked up, oh boy. Add to that the cement flying in...

    Cutting 22mm Sandstone paving slabs??

People seem to use all sorts of things for marking. I'll probably end up using a permanent marker. The sandstone slabs arrived today and they needed a good hose down to get the residue from the cutting process off of them so they should mark easily enough now. The folks at HireStation couldn't...

    Cutting 22mm Sandstone paving slabs??

Thanks folks for all the advice. Due to popular opinion and the advice I don't believe my circular saw would be up to the job so I'm renting an angle grinder with a couple of diamond tipped disks. If there were more slabs to be cut I'd probably get something a bit more substantial.

    Cutting 22mm Sandstone paving slabs??

I'm going to be cutting 22mm Sandstone paving slabs, 6 in total so not many at all. Could I get away with using my circular saw with an appropriate diamond blade (to grind not cut, not even sure I can get such a blade for my circular saw, 185mm x 30mm) or should I hire an angle grinder. With...

    Water butt

Followed the link..... **** that's expensive. All I wanted was a diverter o_O definitely don't need the filtering bit, think I'll keep looking. Thanks anyway.

    Water butt

I've got a water butt which when full diverts the water back down the garage drain pipe into the soak away underneath the corner of the garage. Only problem is water is getting into the garage from the ground up and I believe the soakaway is possibly no longer doing it's job and hasn't been for...

Laying new patio on top of existing??

Thanks chaps. Just as I thought and will save so much work. No not near any damp proof courses.

Laying new patio on top of existing??

As you can tell from the title this is what I'm thinking of doing. I've already laid a small patio (adjacent to this proposed project) for which I had to dig out the old broken up patio and prepared the ground work properly before laying on a concrete base. The new patio will be at a higher...

Artificial turf for person with mobility issues

Luckily none of this is a problem as the area itself only transitions to a newer patio with only a couple of inches difference in levels. My main concern with the turf is how it would react to the pressure of a walking stick or the turning of a laden wheelchair though my partner is quite light.

Shower cycling between hot and cold

Sorry absolutely no idea. We're in a bungalow with, you guessed it, the boiler in the attic!!! I will check for this as soon as and get back to you :)
