    I assume that you have released the air with a radiator key from the three bleed screws located at nine o`clock, six o`clock and three o`clock, looking at the photo showing the top of the boiler, while hot water and heating was switched off??.

    This sounds like the pump then. Ok, clout the flat disc, if awkward to get at use a short lenght of wood etc. If this fails undo the large screw and insert a screw driver into the hole, situated under this screw, and free the impeller by turning the screw driver.

    Remove front cover of the boiler and the pump is located near the top right hand side and will have a circular disc on the front which surrounds a large chrome screw.

    I would suspect that the central heating pump is stuck and not spinning, try giving it a few smart clouts with heal of an old shoe with the heating switched on.

    It is unusual for the hot and cold to mix within a mixer tap as as they usually have a fluted spout to prevent this, so that the water only mixes as it leaves the spout. Are you sure that you have installed the check valve the correct way round?.
