Which way to turn nut to remove u bend

Thanks, it does move both ways so not jammed but turning it right it just goes round and round. but I can see what you mean it looks at an angle no idea what's happened there. But there is a bit of water coming from it sometimes. Think it needs replacing?

Which way to turn nut to remove u bend

Hi all, Dumb question incoming so apologies. I got to clear out my u bend in the bathroom sink as water flows away really slow. In the attached picture which way do I turn the nut to loosen it. Am I right in thinking it's to the right as opposed to the left. I've had a go both ways but not...

Advice on lifting this slab to see if manhole was covered

Just to add to this here is a Thames Water map. The red line indicates there is foul sewer pipe running in the back gardens touching my property. yet where I have added a 'x' is where my Inspection chamber I posted pic above is which runs to the front of the property not to the rear. The 'x' on...

Advice on lifting this slab to see if manhole was covered

I have no idea how deep the drains are but my inspection chamber isn't that deep. I was able to get a tape measure down there so it's arms length. Here's a pic of my IC, but it's running away from where the maps say there's a sewage pipe in the back gardens. That's why I thought that slab was...

Advice on lifting this slab to see if manhole was covered

I think you are spot on in what you say. I do know having opened up my inspection chambers down an alley far from the slabs that the waste runs to the front of the house not to the sewage pipe that runs across the back of my property that is touching the extension from Thames water plans. I...

Advice on lifting this slab to see if manhole was covered

I didn't use a drill I can give that a try. Hope I don't hit a pipe though. I imagine the drain would be v deep. Thanks

Advice on lifting this slab to see if manhole was covered

Yep I think the plans are correct. What I want to ascertain is if there is a IC under here. Because if there is I'm unlikely to get a build over agreement to extend sideways or if I do a huge expense to move the chamber. Anyway I went down a couple of inches and it's solid. No idea.

Advice on lifting this slab to see if manhole was covered

Just seems to be some stone... Not sure I can go much farther... I'm not sure how deep this is. My neighbour has one in their conservatory a lot further back than my extension. But sewage plans indicate there is a drain line in front of extension.

Yeah I saw that and wondered what it is it was quite hard. I'll try a different and see. It's definitely covering something

Advice on lifting this slab to see if manhole was covered

Hi all, I was checking the drain maps on my property and discovered that the foul sewer line runs through the garden v close to an extension I have. I had plans to knock down or add to this extension but thought the sewer line may create challenges with build over etc. I have two manhole...

Crack in corner of old extension and crack outside

Yeah there's no more cracking. That blurry line was a chase out of the light I believe. I agree about foundation movement. It could have been there a good few years I don't know and I don't believe it has got wider. I have the original plans from 1985 for the extension. Thanks for reply. I...

Crack in corner of old extension and crack outside

There is a sewage drain Infront of the extension not under it. There is a bed of shrubs about 2 metres in front. Neighbouring property has plants hanging over their fence. There was a tree in that bed that was removed after extension was built. I think you can see more in the pic. Nothing down...

Crack in corner of old extension and crack outside

Cheers, I can add some sealant thanks. A test pit is an idea, I can get a builder to do that. Space may be an issue mind. I think there is some subsidence otherwise there wouldn't be a crack but who knows. Not even sure the SE would know without digging. The other thing I could do is forget...

Crack in corner of old extension and crack outside

Hi, I was not aware there is sand and cement at the base. Thanks for advice on the exposed crack allowing moisture in. Is the fix to rake out and make good? I did send the engineer pics. He wants to evaluate the site for trees etc before making an opinion. Of course he does. Dreading the...

Crack in corner of old extension and crack outside

Hi, I think outside it is the brickwork too I was able to insert quite deeply a scraper used for filling gaps at the bottom same as I side. The bricks are thermalite bricks. This is what's got me concerned.
