    Boiler airlock

Chris, Thanks for advice so far. Just been up there again and under a dirty great mound of loft lagging found 2 lttle stand pipes with drain tails soldered on top. Chased these back and sure enough they go into the flow and return pipes. Put a length of hose on each and..... nowt. They are a...

    Boiler airlock

Been up in the loft and can't see any vents up there, will go for another look now. Is there normally a vent in the loft? Just fired the boiler up and could hear whooshing in the pipework but it wouldn't clear and with the boiler stat on low the pipes were getting very hot so thought it best to...

    Boiler airlock

sounds "ringing and hollow". As comparison I went tapping 22mm pipes in airing cupboard and they sounded solid. If I do fire the boiler it hisses (is this kettling) so turned off after few seconds again.

    Boiler airlock

Hi Further to my other post I have a specific question about an airlock. My rads are all fully bled but the boiler flow and return pipes sound empty. I have had the pump running for several hours (boiler off) what should I do now. I can't seem to find anywhere else in the loft to bleed the...

Boiler - circulation problems - getting cold Please HELP

I drained my system down today and refilled with Fernox Heavy Duty Restorer because of cold spots in the bottom of all rads. I've bled all the rads and ran the system for an hour or so with the heating off. However, when I ran the heating up the boiler dropped back to pilot only and wouldn't...

    Aqualisa Quartz or Mira Magna

It's the Quartz digital I was looking at or the similar style Mira Magna. Pros and cons for each but certainly some good deals online. Thanks for the replies.

    Fitting shower tray

Nope, the pushfit is supply stuff I merely said pushfit rather than slander speedfit or hepworth etc. Had floorboards up today and no sign of damn leak source as yet. Think I'll solder my bathroom as too many joints behind semi permanent tounge and groove. Must admit, I thought pushfit is easy...

    Fitting shower tray

Thanks again. I'll go with the view it was designed with legs for a purpose then it's only a clip on acrylic panel to access the underside in the event of a problem. Had a friend on the phone last night, under 2 year old Barratt house with a history of a minor leak through the kitchen...

    Fitting shower tray

It's being installed on a concrete floor. I'm just wondering if the tray itself would benefit from support from a central mortar bed as I've never had a stonecast shower tray sitting on just 4 legs before. Obviously instructions say to sit it on legs but I don't know how stable it will be when...

    Aqualisa Quartz or Mira Magna

Hi again, I can't decide whether to get a Mira Magna or Aqualisa Quartz (pumped version either way) and have swotted on the specs and flow rates till I feel like going dirty instead. Aqualisa gives an extra 2 litres per min but Mira's 16lpm should be ample? I've never had a power shower before...

    Fitting shower tray

Hi all. I am about to fit a 900mm stonecast quad shower tray. It''s the type that comes with legs (merlin) for raising it on concrete floors for the waste. Do I install it on the legs alone or should it also have a concrete bed under the main part of the tray to spread the weight too?
