    C Plan Upgrade

OK so I've worked out that it only takes a quarter turn of the black dial from fully open to completely close my TRV's (all of them). So I'm now thinking that I didn't install the adapters onto the TRV correctly? See pics below. I'll take one off and try and re-seat it further out.

    C Plan Upgrade

Well everything is going good. Everything is wired up and running this morning. I let the house get cold overnight to see what happened when I switched it all on this morning. The rooms are coming up to temperature, but the boiler is cycling on and off maybe every 5 minutes. The heating relay...

    C Plan Upgrade

Ah I've hit problems again whilst adding the relay to my wiring diagram. If I wire it with the relay I still need a switched live to go from the terminal box pin 8 to the motor so again need a wire from utility room to the cylinder upstairs. Or if I put the DHW reciever up the stairs near the...

    C Plan Upgrade

OK not sure why I couldn't see your diagrams earlier perhaps you edited the post later? But using a relay looks like a much better plan than starting to rip into my walls as I've already cut some small holes and the pipework is not where I thought it was. So I'll go down the relay route. I...

    C Plan Upgrade

This is where I plan on putting the motorised valve, is this right? Between the boiler feed/vent and the cylinder? Looks like it will be pretty tight but I should be able to get it in there.

    C Plan Upgrade

OK great advice once again cheers. I'm handy with Autocad so I've drawn up what I think I should wire up to help me understand what is going on. I think I can run a cable from the motorised valve position at the hot water cylinder to the boiler without completely ripping the house to bits so...

    C Plan Upgrade

OK so I've now got all the kit, 11 TRV's a wall stat, a 28mm 2 port valve (with 6 wires including white) and the hot water kit. But I can't find a wiring diagram for C plan using the evohome kit. My main concern is what do with the white wire from the 2 port valve. My hot water tank is in a...

    C Plan Upgrade

Thanks for the good advice and diagram that'll come in handy I'm sure. I'm not going S or Y plan at the moment as the whole house needs redecorated in the next couple of years and I'm going to give it a major overhaul then with new boiler and un-vented Megaflow then mixer showers instead of the...

    C Plan Upgrade

OK Cheers. I've ordered the kit with one wall mounted zone thermostat instead of a TRV for the first radiator in the circuit and I'll leave it with the two lock shield valves. This will do for now until I get round to cutting a hatch into the back of the cupboard and installing a bypass loop...

    C Plan Upgrade

Hi there, I've been lurking about these forums for years but don't often post. I'm about to embark upon an upgrade to my heating system to make it "smart" and a bit more efficient. Currently I have a gravity hot water pumped central heating system with TRV's on all radiators except one (in...

    Pumped HW

Nothing is modern about our house, but I'll check the piping sizes

    Pumped HW

Flat roof, no loft. I am planning to join the 21st Century just not for a few years until I rip the house to bits and redcorate it and upgrade it all at once, it was built in the 1800's with 2ft thick granite walls and theres not much thats 21st century at the moment. I take onboard the...

    Pumped HW

I've seen a website called showerpowerbooster or something like that, claims to boost pressure from 12v supply? I'm sceptical about it and there are no figures quoted for it, but I'm only looking to fill the bath quicker with hot water at the end of the day. Anyone seen these in action?

Haha someone beat me to it I see. And clearly the advice was suspect too!

    Pumped HW

Wow thanks, I hadn't thought of replacing the entire system.......waste of time. I'll wait and speak to a real plumber for advice rather than armchair know-it-alls. For the record I appreciate the first reply, I've looked into what you say and understand it now, I'll need to come up with a...

Anyone? I want to do this soon.

    Pumped HW

The header tank that fills the HW cylinder is on a shelf directly above the cylinder in the same cupboard. But I can fill a bath without draining all the hot water, so I wouldn't run the header tank dry? The cylinder may run low tho. But as it's heated indirectly from the central heating...

    Pumped HW

Hi, I live in Scotland,UK and have a flat roofed house and my hot water cylinder is in the cupboard of one of the upstairs bathrooms giving a very low head of HW pressure to my two upstairs bathrooms (and low pressure downstairs too). My CW is mains pressure. What I would like to do is fit a...

Help with gravity HW pumped CH upgrade

Here's a rough sketch (hopefully it's attached properly) of the current system I have. I'm offshore at the moment but when I get home I plan to autocad it properly and add all valves etc then modify the design from there with whatever I intend to install.
