    Neighbours fence, sharing fence posts?

So just in regards to placement of new posts, how do I work out the exact boundry? As in, should I be leaving a gap for a no mans land? Or should i go tight to their fence as possible? This would mean posts would probably need to sit at different positions than theirs to allow for foundations ?

Apologies for the poorly written post. Was just trying to get it all down. Did a very quick sketchup of back of garden to give you idea of sizes. The area of patio I am looking to remove comes out about 2.75m and is 2.4m wide. Its 0.4m at the end of its highest. There is an elevation going...
