Covering this gap in the floor

Well I did say it was not an ideal approach, to go over the beam. The idea was to go under and behind but this was the only way possible. So its not ideal but only option. So not thought through doesnt even factor.

Covering this gap in the floor

Agreed will do as much as possible to make it solid, will add wood between the cables and have a 2-3mm (maybe) steel sheet to cover it. Thats really all that can be done, it would have been perfect if the area had more depth but its only about 18 or 22mm (based on the chipboard size) Anyhow...

Covering this gap in the floor

Must remember we're not holding up a roof here. Its just an 8 or so inch span which is ontop of a beam. Not sure what needs to be spec'd or thought through. Having said that, yes its not ideal. But was the only option to pass cables up the wall from under the floor. I think i'll just...

Covering this gap in the floor

Cant add the same board as it wouldnt fit as the cables take up the space. So the board even if cut properly cant go in that space. Thats why i was thinking a thin metal sheet supported by a small wood piece. Cant take any other pics right now but heres some other I already have.

Covering this gap in the floor

No needs to be covered, carpet will be going ontop. Also the that sections was cut out by the carpenter to make room for the cables. As for the rest of the flooring, its fine, it almost new.

Covering this gap in the floor

Any suggestions on how best to cover this area [see picture below] The cables are lying on the girder. This was to allow the cables to go up the wall. I have a few ideas, one includes adding a small wood piece to the base of the wall (studs/plasterboard) perpendicular and right in the...

    Paint extender

Where can i get paint extender? Basically to dilute the paint. I have a base coat to apply on the ceilings and walls and the walls are pretty much already covered with white. I'm going over it again as I've done some patching of the wall, filling etc and want to go over it all once more...

Squeaky chipboard and "Squeak No More"

Can you simply lift tongue and groove boards? Maybe if there some areas where the board is quite far apart (10mm) maybe?

    Under carpet cabling

Just a general inquiry, I suppose its not big job. Remove old floor and adding new one. Room is empty as well. I'll make some calls or try myself[/youtube]

    Paint order?

I'm not ignoring it, I came up with an alternative and hoped someone would agree or disagree. I see you disagree, but thanks for the info and the proper way to do it.

    Under carpet cabling

Thanks for the advice, really useful stuff! Regarding chipboard, I thought that is the only thing you can use in attic conversions? What is better alternative (aside from proper floorboards). Having alot of creaking/squeaking issues which seems an inherent problem with chipboard. Seems I...

    Paint order?

Thanks for the clarification. I dont think I could make a steady line between wall and skirting. I'll be doing the line between ceiling and wall by hand but skirting sounds alot harder. My suggestion is: 1. Paint skirting - without worry of paint ovelapping, as it will be white on...

    Paint order?

This also seems to make sense, i think. Paint the skirting then tape and paint wall. Otherwise I'll have to tape the skirting first then paint the wall and then tape the wall to paint the skirting. This way as the skirting is white and wall is currently white theres no need for taping...
