Basin taps leaking - 2 washers required?

I have just replaced some basin taps for cosmetic reasons, but when the area around the bottom of the tap gets wet, water drips through to the underneath of the sink. There is a washer under each tap, and a large platic nut under the sink to hold the tap in place-should there also be another...

Why is there a delay in my new light coming on?

Sorry, I just grabbed the nearest bulb available in my spares, it was only when playing around with it yesterday that I noticed it was one of those special low energy type ones. Will know better next time! PS Why does using a low energy bulb cause the delay?

Why is there a delay in my new light coming on?

Now working fine!! I tried a different bulb & there is no longer a delay. The original bulb I was using was one of those energy efficient low wattage - 15 I think, but still gives the same 60 watts brightness. I've put in down to that as all seems to be fine now? Thank you

Have just bought POLYCELL - filler for hairline cracks - you just paint it on - seems to have done the trick, just need to lightly sand down & then paint.

Why is there a delay in my new light coming on?

My light fitting didn't look anything like that! The light is a lantern style, and the wires came out of the stem of the light & have been wired up to the little white connector boxes which then fit snugly into the base attached to the wall. Ooh, sorry, I think you mean the actual part...

Why is there a delay in my new light coming on?

Posted a problem recently & thankfully got it answered & managed to go ahead & complete the job of replacing an outside light. Great, however, when I first switch the light on, there is around 2 second delay but then it's fine, it stays on fine if left. Have I got a problem or shouldn't I...

    Help with replacing kitchen taps

I am hoping to replace my existing 2 x kitchen sink taps with a modern mixer tap - But how on earth am I supposed to get to the fittings which are behind the underneath of the sink bowl? I've recently changed my bath taps over & they were hard enough-at least I could just see both taps Any...

    Peeling paint problem

I have removed a paper border in a small bathroom but this has caused some of the emulsion to come away from the wall, leaving bare plasterwork. Do I try & fill this, which would be a nightmare job or is there a special paint I could buy-otherwise, if I just paint over it, I think you will be...

    HELP with replacing outside light

I am just trying to replace an outside light which was damaged. Being a complete novice but also not wanting to depend on a man to help I have tried to do this myself-My problem is that I have wired up live to live etc, and now my light is 'on' all the time-when I try to flick the switch 'off' I...
