    yes 13a socket, i was just worried about filling it as if i were to do this the filler would sit on top of the socket where the wiring is. i'll give it a try, obviously isolating the socket first :D

    is it safe to extend exsisting wires i have for a socket as they are too short and will not allow me to fit the new double socket into place. if so what can i use that will sit behind the box as its a 35mm flush backbox i've used and i doubt there will be much room behind, thanks

    when i say storage heater i think perhaps i've mislead you, it was a basic electric heater me being a dimwit just called it a storage heater. i found it out that i'd isolated what i could before turning the power off completly but nothing seemed to turn it off until that point...

    i see, where do i look to find the timer for it? will it be on or near the CU? if so can i just take it out and be done with it then do something with the wires? if not i'll have to get me sparky mate on the case because im a bit mortified incase i've done something wrong cheers

    it had a fused switch box, took the fuse out then turned main power off, took it out. i cant get my head around what circuit it comes from as i'm sure i tried them one by one and it remained on. nope nothing else has gone astray in the house as yet

    i believe the MCB to be a 10amp breaker off the top of my head. there are 3 lightbulbs upstairs, 3 downstairs i've been lead to believe lighting circuits will have 1200w max, is this right? thanks for your response i look forward to more info thanks
