Extending Wires

is it safe to extend exsisting wires i have for a socket as they are too short and will not allow me to fit the new double socket into place.

if so what can i use that will sit behind the box as its a 35mm flush backbox i've used and i doubt there will be much room behind,

If you have enough room you could crimp on the extended cable.
You would need to use heat sleeving as well. Use a proper crimper not the cheapo ones.

The ratchet mechanism will not be released until the terminal is fully crimped.

edit: does that make any sense. I've been drinking while watching the footy.
