    Basecoat, Once you have dug your footings you call in the BCO guy to take a look, BEFORE you pour the concrete. If there is a problem he will tell you then. he may tell you to make them lower... You simply dig a little further down if required... Make use of the BCO guy... i had mine up...

    I built an extension recently and asked BCO guy... He said the air brick should sit on the DPC so in other words the air brick should be in the first corse of bricks above the DPC... I do know your finished patio level SHOULD be 150mm below your DPC so that means 2 bricks bellow your air...

    Basecoat, :D Good man. My foundations are 300mm lower than my exsisting house ones. In fact the top of my concrete strip foundations are at the bottom of the house ones :? if that make sense... Dont know specs of your house for example is it old and use old 75mm bricks instead of 65...

    Well to be safe, I got the chisel out yesterday and hacked off all the render around the galvanised beeds. Ordered plastic beeds from screwfix so i will redo the corners this weekend. I have cut back the render about 8 inches from the corner's so i hope once i install the plastic ones i...

    Noseall, Cheers but i sussed it. The hindges are ajustable 3 ways, for height, for standoff from the frame and for plumb... Clever people these plastic designers.... Door fits like a glove now :-) another job done.... Thanks mate..

    Ok guys PLEASE help. I have fitted a new UPVC back door ( fully glazed Type) The frame is dead plumb BUT it wont latch. I can see some allen key bolts on the top and also side of the hindge. Do you have to play with these untill you get it aligned ? Cheers Guys Mick

    UK, I feel quite chuffed that you are asking ME how to do it :D The lime makes the render more flexible once hardned. This reduces the risk of cracks due to expansion and contraction... its a must that you add lime... I used Plastic bellcast beeds BUT galvanised corners... Mainly due...

    Yes had thought of tyrolean. BUT i heard it was very difficult to apply and also VERY VERY messy.... So you WOULD apply a scratch coat over the originall render then a top coat ? :( I was hoping i would get away with just putting on a thickish topcoat.. Oh well looks like ill order a bit...
