Flat warm roof – how to make deep drip look right

Nice, I will try to do the same with mine. Sounds like your ol' man is a builder too? I'm hoping to build as much of our extension as possible, in reality this probably means just the carpentry.

Flat warm roof – how to make deep drip look right

Looks an extremely professional site and that flat roof is so much better than full depth to the edge.

How replace window Catnic lintel with something much bigger

Yes I'm afraid the space between the window frame and the ceiling is only 130mm or so, the cavity part of the lintel goes right up to that I think. I was also thinking to set the new beam up in the ceiling so everything finishes completely flush. I would re-consider this though if it means so...

How replace window Catnic lintel with something much bigger

As a part of a new orangery, I will be taking out the corner of an exisiting single-story lean-to extension, including a lintel over a 1600 window. I'm hoping to do it myself and create as little mess in the existing building as possible. I'll prop the ceiling joists before starting anything...

Flat warm roof – how to make deep drip look right

Great to see that, I guess that from down below, at least when quite close to the building, the 'step' in the roof will be all but invisible. Only improvement I can see is if it had all been in lead! :D

Flat warm roof – how to make deep drip look right

Even without the top insulation, it seems that 'step' is going to really work well – doing a great job of disguising the depth of the flat roof – many thanks for posting these pics.

Flat warm roof – how to make deep drip look right

Thanks – great idea, unfortunately I cannot do this as it would then not align with existing lean-to roofed extension I am building off.

Flat warm roof – how to make deep drip look right

That's clever, I'd thought of trying something like this myself, thinking that the stepped-back level would be invisible from some angles and possibly fool the eye from others, great to see you are trying it and I'd be very interested to see how it comes out. Incidentally, I opted for 120mm...

Flat warm roof – how to make deep drip look right

Using a warm roof (120mm Cellotex), combined with trying to align painted fascia, guttering and internal ceiling height gives me a very deep 'drip' or eaves to the flat roof – around 270mm. I know this may look clumsy. The diagram shows what I am dealing with. I could add a section of...
