so the plan so far is to remove the drum from the washing machine then invert the inner metal drum from inside the outer drum and then re-attach it to on top However, i can't see how to remove the inner drum from the outer. Any advice and guidance would be gratefully received.

I think it was more relavant in getting the inspector on our side. He seen a good job on his first visit and didn't need to be too officious. It made things easier later on in the build for the ocasional "plan B"

is it likely to be an electrical problem linked to the weel selector? I've discovered that i can get it to fill on 40 then move to 60 and it's ok. if i move it streight to 60 nothing happens at all.

It has hot and cold water plumbed in to it. The washing machine used to work fine.

I have a hotpoint washing machine. If I turn the dial to 60 or 90 deg it does nothing, no filling, clicking or purring absolutely nothing. However, if I turn the dial to 40 it behaves exemplary and works a treat. Any advice on how to avoid buying a new machine would be greatly appreciated.
