    Damp on internal wall

Its definitely not condensation. The wall adjacent to it, which is an external wall, has much lower readings.

    Damp on internal wall

Thanks for that. I know about the gap after reading the many posts on here about damp, which is why I pulled the skirting board. No cupboard.

    Damp on internal wall

The other side is floorboards, but same moisture readings. The skirting board is in good condition. Also, as a comparison, my outside walls don't give a reading higher than 8, so this issue is confined to this one inside wall. Silly question, but how do I ask the mods to move to the building forum?

    Damp on internal wall

I have an Edwardian house, which has had a couple of extensions over the years, (previous owners, possibly the 70's or 80's). I am getting damp issues on one internal wall between study and lounge, (extension). The room in question has a concrete floor, I have removed the skirting board and the...

Ok, it's a Suprima 100L, but there are no markings with wattage on it. Installation date, 2005.

    Gas pipe size

Ian, that's what I plan to do. Pipework comes from meter outside, through house up into loft, so quite a long pipe run.

What size should it be, 28mm? From what I can see it's all 22mm.

    Gas pipe size

Turned off at the boiler, but not the gas. It's a potterton suprima, which I know has serious issues, but ours has been fine. He said you can turn it back on, which I did, but the low pressure will shorten it's life.

    Gas pipe size

it says "pipe undersized / blocked. 23 mbar wp @ meter, 11mbar wp at appliance." When I spoke to him, he said the boiler needed 18-19 mbar.

    Gas pipe size

I have just had my annual boiler service and the engineer has turned the boiler off, giving the reason that the supply pipe is under sized. The boiler and pipework have been in place for over 10 years. I know that the regulations changed a couple of years ago, but are they retrospective? Surely...

    Shower cubicle sealant

I have a corner shower cubicle that i installed about 8 years ago. The problem I have is that some of the silicon sealant is going mouldy. It is ion the inside at the bottom corner by the door. I did use a good quality mould resistant sealant at the time when i installed it, but it it now...

    Computer desk

I have a computer desk, which is a few years old now, and the surface on the top of it, which is veneered chipboard, has seriously degraded, (worn out in places, chips, bumps from spills, etc). What would be the best way of revitalising it, sand it down and paint it? if so what sort of paint...

    Smoking chimney

Viewed from the ground, (through binoculars) it looks ok, but the pointing does look shot. The house is a hundred years old, so I don't know if it's ever been repointed.

    Smoking chimney

I noticed smoke coming out of the side of my chimney, does this mean it will need rebuilding or will it just need repointing. (I appreciate I really need to get it checked professionally, just looking for opinions)
