Best Screwfix Boiler for 4 Bedroom Detached House

Typically I see the point in going for the well known brands, but in this case I don't know enough about the subject to see any difference. So finding it hard to justify going for anything but the Viessman Vitodens 050-W 35kw.

Best Screwfix Boiler for 4 Bedroom Detached House

Hi ScottishGasMan, I did have two round last night. I have a preference for a Combi Boiler, which they thought wouldn't be a problem. They suggested a Combi that can deliver around 35 kW of hot water heat output. All the below seem to fit the criteria, and as far as I can see there isn't a lot...

    Baxi - Viessman - Bosch - Valliant

Looking at a boiler for our 4 bedroom, 1 bathroom + 1 ensuite house. It'll go in the loft, so space isn't a problem. Been advised to go for a Combi that can deliver around 35 kW of hot water heat output. All the below seem to fit the criteria, and as far as I can see there isn't a lot of...

Best Screwfix Boiler for 4 Bedroom Detached House

Got two guys to look at it tonight. Both suggested a combi boiler would be OK. One suggested a 38KW, the other a 30KW. Feels like there's a pretty big difference between the two. The 38KW guy was only really interested in Valliant boilers and Eclipse thermostats. The other was (to my mind) more...

Best Screwfix Boiler for 4 Bedroom Detached House

Very helpful, thanks Lamchamps. o_O From where I'm standing, if I knew what I needed, I could just purchase it, and then work on finding someone to fit it. As opposed to getting nowhere because I'm struggling to get advice, which includes the two Gas Safe registered heating engineers I found...

Best Screwfix Boiler for 4 Bedroom Detached House

Ever considered I'm the SF employee, but that I just don't know a lot about boilers. I've not had much luck getting someone over, 2 out of the 8 I approached came over. Both talked a lot, but without giving me a solid recommendation. "Here's 4 folders full of boilers, let me know when you've...

Best Screwfix Boiler for 4 Bedroom Detached House

2 tanks in the loft. One for the heating, another for taps/showers. Insulated storage tank in an airing cupboard on the first floor. Potterton Netaheat Profile 80e in another airing cupboard on the ground floor. All taking up too much space, so want to move it all in to the loft and against 1...

Best Screwfix Boiler for 4 Bedroom Detached House

Mains water here can be a bit hit and miss. . But as it's just 2 adults, we can live with that. Don't want any power showers as I don't like the look of them. And yeah, Combi just seems like the cheaper option, with less labour and less parts involved.

Best Screwfix Boiler for 4 Bedroom Detached House

Because it's convenient for me, and because I can get things at a very good price from them. I'd prefer a Combi as past experiences with a Combi have been very popular. It also seems to be the cheaper option. Just worried if it's the right thing to do, as people have told me that a Combi...

Managed to get through to them. 190 GBP I assume I'll need multiple visits. Will they tell me wen to book one? And will they be charged separately?

I would, but they don't publish them anywhere. You need to call.

How Many Changes in One Building Control Application?

I wonder whether they intentionally make you call now? As clearly those phone lines are unmanned and nobody is available. This means I don't know what the fee is, and I can't apply. Which is a real pain in the backside, as I have a week off for this next week, but now I can't get started.

How Many Changes in One Building Control Application?

Ran in to an interesting issue. Was just about to submit the building notice, but they don't provide any fees. Instead, they provide this: Any ideas as to what questions I should expect and what I should say? I was hoping to just put down "internal alterations" and pay a fee I found online...

How Many Changes in One Building Control Application?

Is this an answer on what cost I should add to it? Or is this related to what the council charged you? Not creating an open plan. The hallway with the staircase in it will see 2 changes to it, but it won't be opened up in any way: A small area will be boxed off with a stud wall to create a...

How Many Changes in One Building Control Application?

I just noticed I only got told this verbally and it's not in the report. Should I ask him to add it in, just to be on the safe side? Or do door openings (both are in single skin block walls) always fairly standard, using a standard lintel? Thanks for the heads up. We're also adding some walls...

How Many Changes in One Building Control Application?

How much details do I need to provide in Full Plans? Can I just create a Word document, list all the things I intend to do at a fairly high level, referencing the Structural Engineer's recommendations, detailing the materials (lintel X for doors, joists of Y dimensions to match existing,..) I...

How Many Changes in One Building Control Application?

I work in IT, but do a lot of DIY. I'm confident I can execute the instructions from the Structural Engineer, but that's it. Is there a chance that Building Control will disagree with the Structural Engineer's suggestions?
