    Faulty RCD or coincidence?

Yep, that’s what I was hoping the result would be. Saves me further diagnostics. Fortunately we have a combi Micro/oven as well. Bit of pain to use in oven mode because it’s stops when you open the door and you have to press start again. Which ofcourse you forget in the middle of cooking. So...

    Faulty RCD or coincidence?

Turning into one of those weeks :( Drain was smelling so pulled up the cover and it's full to the top. Sent the rod down ~7m and still no joy, so had to call Thames water. Anyway that put a delay in my diagnostics. But as expected it tripped the upstairs RCD as well (same rating). So must be...

    Faulty RCD or coincidence?

Yep, especially for electronics (and probably bathtubs as well). Fail early or several years down the line. In between (unless built on the cheap, sub standard/under rated Caps are a classic example) failure rates are usually far lower. As I said, if it weren't for previous oven tripping RCD on...

    Faulty RCD or coincidence?

Thanks for the quick responses :) Plugging into a circuit on a different RCD is a good idea. Daughters Bday today, but will give it a shot over the weekend. I suspect it's a massive coincidence. The Spur is on an inside wall and aside from Fan cooking above 200C the other oven was working...

    Faulty RCD or coincidence?

I have an 80A 30mA (WRS80/2) RCD protecting the supply to my open plan kitchen/living room area. Last year it started tripping if I used my main oven in Fan cooking above 200c. Normal cooking worked fine at all temps. As did my Combi Micro/Oven which also has fan cooking mode. I figured it was...

Lean to Greenhouse air brick advice

As with most problems, mine comes from a woman :) My wife has been moaning she wants to grow veggies/etc for a few years, but we have a smallish garden as we live very close to town. The other day I spotted a lean to green house and we have space for that in the side alley which is quite wide...

    Tubular latch for garden gate

I suspected a tubular latch would fall apart and probably when I'm on the wrong side of the gate :( I wasn't too worried about the handle as I'd use external handles. Thanks for the link to the latches. I looked on ironmongery direct already. They are very old fashioned and look a bit odd in...

    Tubular latch for garden gate

Thanks, I've been looking at those for the front gate. So I can access from the outside (stick the pushcair/bike in alley storage etc). But it wont work for this second gate. My house is on quite a steep incline. So the back garden has been raised 1.2-2m above ground level. The gate in question...

    Tubular latch for garden gate

It's a chunky gate (by design). The frame should be fine with a tubular latch. But surface mount would be easier if I can find one that doesn't look like its an antique :)

    Tubular latch for garden gate

Sorry for late replies. Didnt get any alerts :(, think forum automatically sets to watch without email alert. I found the image on google by searching for gate latches and then selecting images. I find that useful when search terms arent narrowing down what I need. In this case I searched...

    Tubular latch for garden gate

Probably a stupid question, but can you get a tubular latch that could be used on a garden gate? I have modern town garden and am struggling to find a suitable latch (they all seem to be victorian rose style). I have a spare front door handles, which would go well aesthetically. So I was...

Switch inward opening uPVC Bi-Fold to open outwards?

This is it, although ours is 3 panels: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/exterior-external-Rehau-Upvc-double-glazed-bifolding-bi-fold-Doors-in-frame/153451011249?hash=item23ba649cb1:g:0~YAAOSwf4BcpML8 It appears they've fitted the hinges/runner on the outside. Ours has the same SI hinges and runner...

    Unfortunately not :)

Switch inward opening uPVC Bi-Fold to open outwards?

I did have a look, but the bi-fold doesn't have any stamps on the uPVC profile that I can see. The hinges and metal mechanism inset into the doors is labelled SI. The French doors and windows are all stamped Rehau along the uPVC profiles.

Switch inward opening uPVC Bi-Fold to open outwards?

Yes the existing handles would end up outside. Would have to fit new ones on the inside, aswell as the bifold hindes/etc. It was a whole house refurb and the windows were included in the builders contract. It's been quite a while and he's no longer operating. Don't have the manufacturers...

Switch inward opening uPVC Bi-Fold to open outwards?

Thanks for the reply. Do you mean the drainage holes in the doors? I envisaged rotating the frame 180 degrees so inside is outside. In which case the doors would be the same side up.

Switch inward opening uPVC Bi-Fold to open outwards?

We have quite a large uPVC Bi-Fold door (2.4m x 1.9m) which was supposed to open outwards. The builder screwed up and ordered it inward opening. At the time they were more expensive then now. So rather then jeopardise the rest of the job (he may well have tried to find a way to make up his...
