    Smelly dishwasher drainage tube

Hmmm, I always thought those were to clean the inside of a grubby dishwasher? I've never seen the point of them, since running the dishwasher keeps it pretty clean (just like it cleans the dishes!) What about the washing machine drain pipe?

    Smelly dishwasher drainage tube

The drainage tubes for both our dishwasher and also on our washing machine are a bit smelly - I presume they're a bit mucky inside, although they still drain OK. What's the best thing to do to rectify this? Not sure if I need a regular drain unblocker/cleaner as it's not really blocked. And...

    Built-under double ovens too small

Not really. We're not planning an revamping the whole worktop. Our old cooker is damaged and we originally plumped for a stand-alone one inserted between two cupboard units because when we designed the kitchen, there was no obvious layout that allowed us to mount a built-in oven in a vertical...

    Built-under double ovens too small

Yes, I specifically also want the smaller top oven to have a fan in which reduces my choices even more! Mainly because conventional top ovens don't cook very well, but with built-under, I'm likely to need it more since the main oven is smaller than I'm used to with a standalone cooker! I just...

    Built-under double ovens too small

I don't quite see you point.... Typically a single oven capacity is around 57 litres, as is the main oven of a 900mm built-in double oven, and also a stand alone double oven cooker. My problem is that all built-under double ovens have a main oven capacity under 50 litres. I don't see why a...

    Built-under double ovens too small

I disagree. We currently have a freestanding cooker level with the counter top which has a double oven - grill in the top. My point is why can't built-under ovens be as tall* as free standing cookers? Then the main oven would be a similar size, rather than the somewhat smaller ones they seem...

    Built-under double ovens too small

We're currently looking to replace our free standing double oven cooker with a built under one which is currently between two cupboard units. (We'll refit the worktop to go all the way across and have a separate hob on top) I don't understand why I can't find a built-under double oven with a...

    Plantex or similar sheeting?

Thanks for the advice Thermo. That pretty much tells me that our gardener is wrong in advising that we don't need Plantex. Thanks also for the pegs tip - they sound like a good idea. Hope I can find some over here in Western Ireland!

    Plantex or similar sheeting?

I imagine Plantex would help stop it merging in with the soil then? Not much chance of it drying out and shrinking over here in Western Ireland - it's too wet here!

    Plantex or similar sheeting?

We have an area about 180 sqm at the end of our garden that we never seeded. We've planted a number of trees and shrubs, but until those are large enough in a few years to keep the area covered, weeds keep taking over like a jungle which need to be cut down and sprayed. So we were thinking of...

Wiring 20amp 1 Gang Double Pole Switch

I'm trying to learn how to wire a double pole switch and surfed on into this thread... My oil-fired central heating boiler is wired up to a light switch and is on a lighting circuit! I wanted to add a neon indicator to show that it's on, so I've replaced the light switch with a Clipsal one...
