Only discovered this site a short while ago....early impressions? I think it's great that so many people are prepared to share their knowledge and experience with us lesser DIYers....just a thought and not a crticism what does everyone think about having some kind of Glossary to explain the tech...

Having had a few quotes for a double garage(16'x17') timber, brick and pre-fab concrete,I wondered how feasible it would be to scratch build one myself from timber onto a concrete base...I'm no cabinet maker but I know my way around a skill saw and a nail gun etc, no doubt I'll have loads of...

    Metal Polishing help!

Have to say I agree with ch427,try a local polishers, those home kits aren't up to much, plus you'll end up sha*ging your electric drill in the process,I might be wrong, but a polisher will just polish off the anodising as part of the job,may be worth getting the item lacquered though unless you...

    garage insulation

Thanks Masona, thats a great help, looked into the ply option but its a lot more costly, though I guess when its done thats it and you have a good solid base to hang up all the junk that tends to find it's way to the garage! At the risk of sounding thick  when using the foil back PB does...

    building a garage

Getting a new double garage built, had a few quotes...most offer to build it in block work or a single wall(skin) of regular brick, one guy was horrified and said that a single wall construction would not support the weight of the roof which will be done in pre-formed joists and Marley tiles...

Interesting site! Am thinking of insulating our totally detatched garage shortly, mainly to try and keep a reasonably stable temperature and reduce condensation to a minimum. Was going to batten the walls then add layer of insulating material (what's best?) then fix some 12.5mm...
