New build roof & dormer window rainfall query

That’s what we were thinking. Any ideas how we can find out what would make it handle rainwater better? We’re happy to get a specialist to have a look and advise but not sure who’s remit this would be covered by? A surveyor/architect/roofing contractor?

New build roof & dormer window rainfall query

Hi there, We moved into a new build a few months ago. Almost straightaway we noticed that when it rains, the water from a large section of roof, streams over the top of the box dormer windows to the ground (right in front of the garage entrance doors). It doesn’t seem right to us and we’re...

    Outdoor Tap Connector

Thanks, I did wonder if that’s the case! Ideally looking for something that can be attached/ removed a bit more easily.

    Outdoor Tap Connector

Thanks. Would this fit a tap of this size or is this a standard size? It seems this tap is a non-standard size.

    Outdoor Tap Connector

Hello, I’m just wondering if anyone has got any suggestions for how to connect a hosepipe to an outdoor tap like this one (I think it’s a double check valve)? I’ve got a hozelock hosepipe and have tried their standard tap connector and even with the white reducer, it still doesn’t fit. I’ve...

    Thank you, good idea.

Best paint for internal garage walls

Thank you. Would it make a difference being a new build? I believe that matt emulsion would be breathable but not sure if masonry paint could lock in moisture from the build and slow drying out process?

Best paint for internal garage walls

Hello, I’m looking for tips on how to best paint internal garage breeze block walls on a new build (integral garage). I’m thinking of brightening it up and using light coloured paint like white/neutrals. Would ordinary interior matt emulsion paint be suitable? Or would masonry paint be...

    Radiator Valve head Broken Off

Thanks, the one in this picture is one that must have been replaced more recently. There’s a few different brands dotted around the house and Honeywell is what our plumbers used a couple of years ago. I’m not sure if they just replaced the plastic head or the whole valve.

    Radiator Valve head Broken Off

Great, thank you very much for the info. There’s a few different brands of them dotted around the house. The one that broke is actually one of the older discoloured ones - here’s a photo of one just like it. I think Landis and Gyr might have been taken over by Siemens.... In terms of sizing...

    Radiator Valve head Broken Off

Hi there, We’ve just accidentally knocked off a radiator TRV at home today. Luckily there’s no leaking or anything, however we’re left with the valve pin exposed and the radiator is on full. Are we able to buy and install a new replacement control do you know, without getting a plumber out...

    Radiator Valve Cap

I’m not sure what type the valve is but here’s picture, if it’s possible to tell from this? We don’t really want to glue it down in case we need to get to it. Screwfix have these but not sure if suitable as we’ve got microbore (8mm...

    Radiator Valve Cap

Hi there, I’m trying to find some radiator valve caps for our radiators that will be toddler proof. We have microbore pipes and it’s for the other side of the radiator to where the thermostatic valves are. We currently have only the basic ones on there that just rest on the top and can...

Tiny specs on a dry plaster wall - mould or something else?

I’m sorry I can’t post a picture as I covered it temporarily with masking tape whilst deciding what to do. It’s on an interior wall with no traces of damp at all and no plumbing or wiring behind. As JohnD suggested I’m now thinking that it’s likely to be something like a spider or insect that...

    Built in wardrobes

I can recommend trying Gliderobes. Their website has a configurator where you can input measurements and choose the style. They’ve been very good in the past for me. Their factory is in Derbys and you can either DIY or pay for one of their fitters to come to check measurements and install.

Tiny specs on a dry plaster wall - mould or something else?

Anyone any ideas how to get rid of it. Kind of worried it will come back when the wardrobe is there. Want to get it sorted before we put all our things inside it too.

Tiny specs on a dry plaster wall - mould or something else?

It could well be this. There were only a few specs. The weird thing that baffled me were that they were wet. Really hope it’s just a UK house spider that’s gotten behind the picture at some point. I’ve seen the black marks flies leave around the house and this was definitely different to this...

Tiny specs on a dry plaster wall - mould or something else?

Maybe. That’s what I wondered too. It’s only a very few specs covering an area the size of the 50p. The back of the canvas is plain and unmarked. I guess there would be about half an inch between the canvas and the wall where they were.

Tiny specs on a dry plaster wall - mould or something else?

This is what I’m afraid of. It is so strange. I’m quite anxious about it to be honest. Especially as it’s in my baby’s nursery. The reason for decorating is that alcove is going to have a fitted wardrobe installed soon. I really hope it’s not some Australian thing?? I wouldn’t even know how to...
