    Indesit 1263W Washing Machine Problems

It sounds like there are shorted turns in the motor armature and this has blown the triac in the module. If you need a new motor and a module repair you may be better off just buying a new machine. Unfortunately, the current offerings from Indesit are nothing like as reliable as your present...

Can the same tube fill and empty?

Dishwashers use a relatively small amount of water so the energy savings from a hot fill will be negligible, especially if the hot water has to travel a fair distance to the dishwasher.

Zanussi W1242W Washer/Dryer not drying properly anymore

Does it have high and low drying heat settings? If so, you may find that part of the dryer heating element has failed.

Can the same tube fill and empty?

Does the box part screw directly onto the water valve? I have seen something similar which incorporates a device to detect leakage in the water pipe and shut off to prevent flooding. Most machines will have 2 hoses, cold water feed and waste outlet. The Miele probably has no provision for a hot...

    Excessive filling

Make sure the drain hose from the machine goes high up at some point so that water can only escape when pumped out and not drain away by gravity.

washing machine not washing above 40 deg

It will run fine on just cold but you need both hot and cold connections on the back of the machine connected to the cold supply. To do this you can buy a Y piece that fits on your water valve.

    Hotpoint WMA66 Please help

The water level is controlled by a pressure switch mounted near the top of the machine, which is connected via a thin hose to a pressure vessel incorporated in the sump outlet plumbing at the bottom of the tub. It is possible that the pressure vessel is choked or the hose might have rubbed on...

    Silent Calls

If I put the numbers on here they would probably be snipped by the moderators. If you try to ring them you get number unobtainable and in one case the number starts 0112, which I am told is not a genuine number. :?

When were 45amp MCB's phased out?

For that matter, why does there have to be such a multitude of different designs? There should be a British Standard MCB that fits all consumer units. I think the manufacturers are dropping the less common sizes on their older ranges of MCBs.

    Disconnecting water hoses

Sounds like the valves have jammed and someone has broken the levers trying to turn them. Whether you need to drain the hot water depends on your particular plumbing system but it is an option if all else fails.

Wahing Machine Wont go to Rinse Cycle

You need to drain out the water by placing the grey outlet hose into a bucket on the floor. When empty you can remove the pump from the machine base and unscrew the motor section from the cover section. This will check if there is an obstruction such as a coin in the pump. If this looks OK you...

    Hotpoint WD63 making awful racket

I would advise you to get it repaired as a lot of the new machines are inferior to your current Hotpoint. The soap drawer housing does need cleaning periodically with the drawer removed so this may cure the leakage problem. As for the noise, I'm not too sure, might even be the house plumbing...

    Whirlpool AWM8123

Sounds like a drainage problem, check for blocked filter, choked pipes etc.

    Tools

Go to car boot sales and buy old tools that look like they have been used. Don't buy from the stalls selling new tools as they will most likely fail the first time you use them. You will obviously need good screwdrivers, wire cutters and long nose pliers as they will be used on pretty much every...

    Hotpoint WMA48 - problem!

If it tripped the mains it may well have been a short circuit in the door interlock which often causes damage to the circuit board. It could be expensive so it might be worth calling Hotpoint if the machine is less than 5 years old.

    Hotpoint WMA48 - problem!

It may just be a faulty door interlock, part number 1603292 but in some cases you get this symptom when there is a fault in the main computer circuit board.

Hoover Dryer Deluxe - not spinning

It sounds like you have a drum bearing problem if the drum was rubbing on the side. You will need to remove the drum to assess which parts are worn but you may end up buying a new machine.

    Hotpoint starts then stops

Have a look at the tacho magnet. This is a small round magnet on the back end of the motor. It may have broken or come loose.

    Silent Calls

For the last few days I have been plagued by these calls. I answer the phone and there is nobody there. I assumed it was some crank having a laugh but I'm told it is a byproduct of this accursed telephone marketing. The people at the call centres don't take all the calls generated by the...
