    Damp course help

Hi the damp is on all walls including the interior walls. No banked earth or water leaks it is just rising - this was confirmed by the previous damp guys. The outside is red stock brick sat on a sandstone plinth, the inside is just standard old brick. I will post some photos when I get chance...

    Damp course help

Hi all, I have a damp issue in the majority of the walls in my old (1896) house and asked a company some time back to come and install a damp course. They came along and did as requested and installed one of the modern cream based damp courses. This is the only bit they did, i.e. they didn't...

    Garage Floor

Yes, I was just summarising the main construction but yes, I will be including the visqueen and blinding. Apparently the screed specification will take the weight of a vehicle. Having said that it will only have motorbikes in it anyway.

    Garage Floor

From further research, in case this is helpful to anyone, I understand it is best to lay the hardcore (compacted), 150mm of concrete then 100mm insulation with the UFH pipes clipped to it. On top of this then a 75-80mm of screed then whatever floor covering required. I will probably go for fibre...

    Garage Floor

Hi all, I am building quite a large garage and I want to build the floor with insulation (like a house), underfloor heating and possibly a polished concrete floor. Any advice on construction of the floor. For example should I go 150mm MOT, compacted, 100mm insulation and 150mm concrete?? I am...

    Soil Pipe

Thanks for the advice. The problem is it is right next to the front door and looks odd. I can't move it because there is a window in the way. D

    Soil Pipe

Morning all, I would like to replace a soil stack that goes up past the gutter (its a bungalow) with a short stack of about 1m high. I understand that this can be done with a special type of capping but could somebody please advise what would be needed. Is this approach acceptable from a...
