Fit floorboards to a concrete conservatory floor

This photo isn't mine (I've pinched it off the interweb), but it's more or less the same thing.

Fit floorboards to a concrete conservatory floor

I'm sure some of the more experienced folks will come along and tell me this way is rubbish.....but, I have levelled a similar floor in the past. First step was to lay some plastic sheet/membrane, just in case the concrete had any moisture in it, then lay the battens/joists down. I then added...

Garden Office Build Thread- Start to finish with pics!

Is this not emotionally draining? Let it go man.....everyone just let it go. Surely there's better things to be doing on a nice sunny Saturday than this?

Fit floorboards to a concrete conservatory floor

Most of our ground floor is constructed in this way, including a 5m x 4m living room, and it's rock solid. Only issue we've had (which has caused me to pull some of it up) was the subfloor being uneven which has meant in time the polystyrene and chipboard settled into a slight 'hump' (which...

    Reducing height of Inspection Cover

I just hate handsaws man, incident as a youngun to blame for that. Try and use me Mitre and Circ whenever possible....which might seem back to front given the damage you can do with them lol

    Reducing height of Inspection Cover

That's what I thought, as the lid itself has a slot running around it which fits the chamber anyway. As for the concrete haunches...good thinking Batman, I shall do just that. :D

    Reducing height of Inspection Cover

If I was to cut it, I'd maybe attempt to bond something onto the plastic to replicate the lip. Raking around on the interweb, I've found you can get inspection chambers (go me, proper name and all lol) with multiple 'lips' on them, presumably you just cut down to the level you need on those.

    Reducing height of Inspection Cover

    Lol, like I'd ever use a non-powered saw :P

    Reducing height of Inspection Cover

Just had a quick jab around the outside with the spade, and here's what the rest of it looks like.... Is it just a case of buying a shallower (I don't know the name for it) centre bit and reconnecting the pipes to it, or is it possible/advisable to cut it down by a couple of...

    Reducing height of Inspection Cover

Hi all, We're looking to level some of our sloping garden, and after measuring up, it appears that an inspection cover will end up protruding quite high once the surrounding soil is reduced. Has anyone any experience of how easy/difficult it is to reduce the height of these things...

    Durabase Conservatory Base

Cheers Gaz. I rang them up and the price was better than I was expecting it to be, so it could be a goer in the future.

    Durabase Conservatory Base

Great stuff Gaz, sorry for all the questions, where did you order yours from? Direct, or via the porch supplier?

    Durabase Conservatory Base

Great stuff, how did the price compare versus proper foundations/slabs etc? Any downsides?

    Durabase Conservatory Base

Hi folks, Has anyone used one of these things before? http://www.durabase.co.uk/styles.html We're surrounded by loads of massive trees, clay soil, and a private sewer inspection chamber in the way of where I'd want a conservatory to go, I'm thinking that one of these things might be...

    Buying/Borrowing/Leasing overgrown land

We bought the house years ago. It's the extra garden space we'd like to buy. The house is only 24 years old and was half the price of comparable new builds. They've demolished most of the local council houses and are rebuilding all around us, the street itself is very sought after with very...

    Buying/Borrowing/Leasing overgrown land

I've had a reply from the Housing Association far quicker than I imagined I would, and it's relatively good news. They are prepared to sell or rent me some of the land. The only slight problem (not sure if that's the correct word) is that there's a moratorium in place that will not allow...
