    transformer fault?

cheers guys. got hold of a transformer from another machine. bit unsure how to wire it up though. the secondary side is easy because its the same 12v - 0 - 12v terminals. on the origanol one the 2 phases were connected to the 0 and 415v terminals. this transformer however has 0, 230, 400...

    transformer fault?

been fault finding today at work and after some opinions as installations my norm. the machine is a set of 3 phase rotators driven by motors. its the usual set up. 2 contacters (fwd and rev), a transformer for the 24v supply, pendant and a circuit board for the speed control. the...

    joining big swa

opinions please doing a rewire of a factory/ workshop where i work. just about figured out how im going to do it ( been a ball ache because trying to keep downtime down  ) theres a possibility though i may have to joint some big swa. current setup is some 120mm 4 core feeding a Db...

    overloaded??

thanks sm, maybe thats something to look into. my overall feeling is the installation has more things hooked up than it probably should. especially since they are bringing in a new machine also that pulls 100A per phase apparently! our supply is only 3 x 400A. any other comments on...

    overloaded??

following on from my other post (many thanks to those who took time to give there input by the way) i wonder if anyone had any views on this..... canalis 400A triple pole+N busbar trunking fed from a busbar chamber. feed is via a swa BS5467 4 core 185mm. desired supplys connected from the...

    distribution board.

thanks lectrician, i see where your coming from. even been in contact with canalis/scnieder to ask about diversity for the busbar. dont think they really wanted to say either way. thing with the current setup is that the main busbar chamber is protected by 400A fuses. off this comes the...

    distribution board.

thenks for the re[ly's. all helpfull. anybody know about the diversity on the high level busbar trunking? would it be overloaded?

    distribution board.

only other possibility could be...... fit a new db off the high level busbar trunking to control the lights and sockets then run the 3 phase 63A sockets direct from the busbar trunking. not sure how diversity works on 3 phase however and think it would probably be overloaded. loading would...

    distribution board.

panel boards a good idea but unrealistic i think because the space is pretty tight and downtimes a big issue.

    distribution board.

thats 6KA phase phase to phase, i doubled it yeah. probably be only 2 welders used at once on and off, think loading is fine myself personally. the length of the swa is about 25 metres so not a great distance. got another question here guys aswell. theres also a high level busbar...

    distribution board.

cheers for the help so far guys. Pfc at busbar is 6.2KA, same at board. the 3 phase sockets will be mainly used for running welding sets/appliances. majority of our sets use 2 of the phases only pulling about 45 amps between the 2. am i right in thinking when we talk about 200 amp...

    distribution board.

was definetly looking at mcb's. easy to reset and means i can rcbo the 230 rings too. just unsure of what rating board i should be looking at in order for it to be able to take the mentioned circuits. also i would require some protection for the board??? thought best way of doing this...

    distribution board.

hi spark not viable to use the busbar no. supply to busbar is 400A per phase. require a means of isolation yeah. thought i could have used the incomer that ive seen on 3 phase db'd but will these be rated enough to take the current and also will i be able to terminate the 70mm's?

    distribution board.

got a 3 phase db to do at work and need some advice really as im predominantly electrical maintenance. the supply cable to the current 2 board is from a busbar chamber. the cable is 4 core swa 70mm. the circuits i need are( other circuits can be removed as we dont need them) 3 x 30A...

    combi boiler

am entitled to a knew combi boiler from the council for the house (lucky me). what i wanted to know is if i say yes how will it be powered? do they have to install a seperate circuit from the CU or is it just a matter of spurring off the ring socket supply? worried about my newly...

    mcb question

right so im guessin that means the set up isnt ok? cant believe the inspector wouldnt pick up on this? is there any way this could be alright or should this have been commented on in the inspection? if the load is balanced then presumably the cables should be ok but if unbalanced then the...

    mcb question

strange because they had a periodic inspection done few months back and this hasnt been mentioned in the report as far as i know. shouldnt the inspector have picked up on this?

    mcb question

was wonderiing because at our work we have three pole circuit breakers rated at 60A that protect switch disconnectors & 63A socket outlets. i believe the wiring to be in 6mm singles in trunking and a sparky friend of mine told me the 6mm singles were only rated to about 50A. is this set up ok?
